Yesterday, the NFL announced that The Who, or at least the surviving two members of The Who, will be performing at the Annual Super Bowl Halftime Show and Beer Run. I realize that the League is simply trying to prevent another Nipplegate from occurring, and they believe that keeping classic rockers from the 60's awake a few hours past their bedtimes to entertain Baby Boomers is the best way to accomplish this goal. As a longtime Who fan, I know what this band was capable of in their prime. So, I will not be watching the spectacle, especially if the show includes a bunch of underprivileged kids from the local Boys and Girls Club doing the Spin and Puke to "You Better You Bet". In honor of a band that at one time was considered one of the most dangerous, a band that absolutely KILLED on stage night after night, The Greatest Rock n' Roll Band In the World; I present to you the Bloody 'Ooo circa 1970... Oh My Gawd, Lumpy!
V'ger,
I am guessing that you watched that video.
The Who were MONSTERS in their day. I know that the NFL is playing it safe, but I find it funny that they are selling a product that is promoted primarily to families. There was NOTHING family friendly about the Bloody 'Ooo for most of their career. I am glad that they are finally realizing a big pay day; they deserve that. But I just can't get into variety hour whenever I know what the real thing was.
