AND THE DIRECTOR IS.......
Our final show of the season is approaching quickly and I would like to introduce you to those that are involved one way or another in "A Christmas Cactus". Brenda Ferguson is making her directing debut with this show. This play has a warm spot in her heart for many reason. One is because it makes her feel closer to her grandmother and mother both of whom passed away many years ago. They always had Christmas Cactus plants in their homes and when Brenda had her first home, her grandmother gave her a cutting of her plant. Secondly, it marks Brenda's fourth year with RCP. She participated in her first production four years ago this month in the role of Mrs. Ruth Bloom in "Charming Billy". Brenda has served as stage manager and co-director for a number of plays and has won two Abbott Awards one for Unsung Hero in 2009 and President's Choice in 2011. In addition, she is a River City Players board member.
Off stage, Brenda works part-time in medical records at Heartland Care and Rehabilitation Center, enjoys scrapbooking and counted cross-stitching. She is a volunteer in the Read to Succeed program at Blanchard Elementary School. She is a member of the Jackson chapter of Order of the Eastern Star as well as the Drama Team at Bethany Baptist Church in Cape. She loves spending time with her husband, Jim, and their children and grandchildren.
Brenda thanks the cast and crew for putting their "ALL" into making this play a great one. It is a lot of hard work but it is also much fun. She is enjoying working with the veteran performers and is excited to welcome new members into RCP. "I just couldn't ask for a better group of people!" I know our patrons will enjoy this family-oriented play where comedy, mystery, and romance converge in a Christmas story.
Opening night is November 9 with dinner shows also on November 10, 16, and 17 with the show only on Thursday, November 15. All of RCP productions are held at Port Cape. To make reservations that number is 573-334-0954. And as always, I will see you at the Theatre!
