NEW SHOW TO OPEN SOON......
Here it is the last day of August and I ask myself, where did this month go? It means a lot of things to different people when a month goes by so fast, but I can tell you what it means to River City Players. It means we open our September show in 14 days. Exciting? Yes! Stressing? Sometimes! Prepared? Always! In the next few blogs I would like to tell you about the people that are involved in this show "The Smell of the Kill" by Michele Lowe. The director of this show is Miss Holly Raines a name that is well known for being involved with River City Players. This is her third production to be directing having previously directed "Panic" in 2010 and "Make Me a Match" in 2009. She has been with the Players since 2005 in which she played several small roles in "A Few Good Men." She was in several plays since then, some of which include "Wait Until Dark," "Deathrap," and "Steel Magnolias." In 2008 she became more active when she joined the Board of Directors and became Treasurer in January of 2009. Since then, she has been involved in almost every production each season, either performing or helping out backstage. In January of 2012, Holly won the Abbott Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for Tammy in "Academia Nuts," and that same night, her boyfriend of almost three years won the Unsung Hero Award. Holly's next involvement will be co-directing with Brenda Ferguson in the last show of this season, "A Christmas Cactus," coming in November.
"The Smell of the Kill" is a mystery comedy. The dinner show dates are September 14, 15, 21, and 22. The doors open at 6:30 the buffet is at 7:00 and the show at 8:00. The cost is $35 which is a great price for the outstanding food that is prepared for you by Chef James Cain and as always a very entertaining production. If you are interested in the show only you can catch that on Thursday, September 20. The doors open at 6:30 and the show starts at 7:00. Cost of the show only is $15.
