The Foster Dogs: Ginger and Buster
Fostering pets can take many forms. Currently, the fosters I have are for families with needs for their pets in short term situations. Ginger and Buster's folks are working short term in St. Louis - the housing they found and could afford did not allow pets. On recommendation of a mutual friend, Ginger and Buster are here for about 3 more months. Their folks are back in Cape most weekends, so they go home for the weekend. Sometimes, the pups get to stay the weekend when schedules don't let their folks come home.
I really enjoy fostering these two dogs. Each has his/her own very distinct personality and watching them adjust to the pack is an experience. They were nervous the first week but then, when they came back after a weekend home, they were much more relaxed - they were not abandoned, just at "the spa." They are greatly missed by their folks who I know will be glad to have them back for good in January or so.
Buster is a red and white Beagle boy, newly neutered, who enjoys playing with Squishy. The Squish seems happy to have a play buddy, too.

Ginger is a senior English Springer Spaniel, very sweet, who wants to get along with everyone but doesn't read dog language very well (such as when Archie growls, Ginger doesn't know to back away; she thinks he wants to play). She grew up with Buster, who is the Boss in their home, so she didn't have much experience with other dogs. She's learning but is an innocent. She does really pretty well....

Ginger and Buster will have been here about 6 months when they go home. The Dachshunds will leave early November, we think, after more than two years. Then, except for one possible foster, the remaining dogs and I will take a break. After years of rescuing, fostering, and transporting, my dogs deserve more attention plus there are the Sanctuary dogs who will be here for their lives...and anyone adopted out in the past 10 or so years is always welcome back should life so dictate.
And who are the Sanctuary Dogs? Glad you wondered...next time. Have a wonderful week.
