Returning with Good News
I never meant to be gone this long from this blog. I have not been up to par - still am not - but need to let you know about some very effective collaboration which happened and does happen. I have already talked about how the shelters and pounds in our area collaborate with each other to save pets. One of my favorite rescues is the St. Louis Senior Dog Project - while they focus on senior dogs, they take in any age and even cats on occasion. On Ellen's blog this past week, she featured two dogs who came to them via our own Humane Society of Southeast Missouri. Yep, the same people who call me about Beagles and hounds...I don't know the logistics of who contacted who but two dogs are living and will be adopted because of the collaboration and working for the animals first. I am sure this isn't the first time....
Dino, Allie Mae, Queenie, Kisses, Todd are just a few of the dogs who came to Silverwalk via HSSEMO. We rock with our community to save lives....Dino and Kisses have found homes. Queenie is a very petite lap dog of a Beagle, NOT vocal, still waiting for her home; Todd is a lovely red Beagle boy, vocal and very loving - just stritch him in the right place....Allie Mae is a very senior dog who directs when she eats, when I need to go to bed, when she needs to go outside....she would love a home with her own people to boss care for.
Because of the caring community we live in, dogs and cats more and more are finding homes, finding fosters, being advocated, and altered (spayed and neutered). We live in a community which cares for its own - both people and pets. Thank you for letting me share with you.
