Home Going
What an irresistible, honest face Jedi has
Dino at rest in evening light - a one man dog Dino went home on a weekend trial this past Friday. He and his new dad came back today to seal the deal. They are reportedly inseparable. When "Dad" gets up, Dino gets up. Where "Dad" goes, Dino goes. The light I saw in this man's eyes today warmed my heart. He had been coming for almost a month after his dog died, not quite ready but wanting to see how he and Dino fit. Like a glove, I'd say. It is crucial shelters, sanctuaries and humane societies work together. Dino's life was spared because he had a champion in a volunteer at the Humane Society. She asked if he could come to Silverwalk last May. It has taken some time but his person was indeed out there - and Dino is helping mend a heart grieving over the loss of a beloved dog. Can't take his place - but can make his own. Jedi found his home because my rescue friend, not remembering I had a hound sanctuary, emailed a mutual rescuer friend asking for a hound rescue and was referred to me - and others made the time and effort to transport him to Poplar Bluff where I picked him up. "It takes a village" to save lives. Thank you to all who adopt, who volunteer, who ask hard questions, who drop off supplies and food, who donate cash for whatever is needed - you are saving lives. Can we save them all? Someday...for now, we have made a difference for these two.
