Puppies, Go Home!
The puppy paws of Pip and Squeak are now in new homes - each a good home looking for just the right lap dog - they will fit that bill as well as bring much joy. Thanks, Petco and Safe Harbor for sharing your time with Silverwalk on Saturday for the puppy adoption marathon. Between Safe Harbor and Silverwalk, we came with 9 puppies and Safe Harbor went home with two, one of whom has since been adopted! WOW. It is always difficult to adopt on the spot at an adoption event since on Saturdays, we cannot check references. We learned from a previous puppy adoption event that few stick - all but one came back from that event:( - and one person took a Safe Harbor puppy to the Humane Society though their contract stated otherwise! Of course, HSSEMO contacted Safe Harbor and the puppy was transferred. All those puppies quickly were adopted out to real homes. The temptation, of course, is to spontaneously adopt a puppy without taking time to think things through; puppies are cute just for that reason! I heard at least two people on Saturday wanting pups but needing to wait and consider. Smart moves. On the other hand, the homes to whom the puppies went on Saturday were ready for puppies partly because most people had seen Alice on KFVS12 at noon Friday with puppies and the puppy plan for Petco Saturday. WOW again. This time, those wanting puppies had time to prepare their thoughts, homes and families. Thanks, public! Remember, should anything happen to you or yours, bring your puppies back to whom you adopted from, either Safe Harbor or Silverwalk - we are here for you and for your adopted pets.
