Agnes gives herself a Job
Last post I alluded to Agnes's new job of errand dog. She takes this very seriously. It is one of those thing I would not have noticed had my friend not taken her to the vet one day. Agnes eagerly went outside w/us, then hopped up into my friend's backseat. She sat there watching the world pass by as they rode. Coming back, she had been sedated so the trip was a bit different. Agnes is a Lab mix and not small - a challenge for my friends. But, I now knew something about Agnes I didn't know or had not taken the time to see before. My previous ride along dogs are gone...so, Agnes has a new job. As long as I take her out to potty and get some water at least once on errands, she is happy to snooze on the blanket in the back of the SUV. Good for you, Agnes. Kudos to my friends for generously giving of their time and effort on her behalf.
As part of our continuing discussion of dog observation, consider your dog(s) in different lights. You may see/find something of interest to them you did not expect. Scout has been wanting to go out, too but he has a different agenda - he wants to go to CGC class and DO something; this ride along business, to him, was bizarre. Plus, he almost was "eaten" by the doors at Petco - egads! Agnes, I am sure, as her arthritis worsens, likes to get away from the buffeting of multiple dogs in the household and yard. She seems very happy in the car. You rock, Agnes. OH, BTW, Agnes would love a home of her own w/owners who would still take her for a ride now and then - please check her out at Silverwalk Beagle & Hound Sanctuary, Inc. As always, love your pets & consider their perspective.
