Dumpster diving is NEVER for Puppies!
I am going to second the latest Canine Advocate entry with the story of the new puppy in my home/sanctuary. Her name is Margie. Margie is a mutt puppy, probably a hound/terrier mix according to her long ears and wiry coat with the cutest eyebrows. She is only about 8 weeks old now and small but very self confident despite being found in a DUMPSTER!
Margie was found in a St. Louis area Wal-Mart dumpster. The lids were closed. An employee named Margie heard these noises, looked all around the dumpster, behind it, around the area and finally in the dumpster. There was Margie - named after her rescuer. Insensitive? Loss of respect for life? Cruel? You bet. We will never know the circumstances which landed Margie in the dumpster but someone has no conscience...or more than someone :(.
Margie is now safe. She plays with the entire pack here at Silverwalk, even the Pit Bull, Spanky. She is an awesome puppy - and I am not normally a puppy person but those Safe Harbor puppies prepped me and then, here comes another hound mix puppy.
People who are cruel to animals grow up to be cruel to humans. Stop the madness. Teach responsible, caring attitudes to your children; better yet, MODEL them so they know you mean what you teach.
Those who dumped Margie lost a prize - and I won! Shame on them and all like them. Would we could find them and put them in a dumpster or jail.....
