KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) _ Republican Rep. Jo Ann Emerson defeats Democrat Joe Allen to win re-election in Missouri's 8th Congressional District.

The Associated Press declared Emerson the winner based on an analysis of current returns, voter turnout and previous voting patterns.

Emerson, of Cape Girardeau, wins her seventh term in the state's most sparsely populated district.

She first won the seat in 1996 to replace her husband, Bill Emerson, who died in office.

Yeah!! WOOO!! Now how about that missing high school girl from Jackson that the media has yet to write about. Its pathetic. What if that was your daughter??

Jo Ann will continue to win elections as she is a middle of the road person and that is what the majority of the people want. The conservative era could very well be over for a while. The National numbers are showing from coast to coast that people want change and move the country in to the 21st century.

I had to hold my nose to vote for her, but we need every Republican we can get. I do hope a good conservative runs against her next time.
