Police car crashes looking for Cape Girardeau robbery suspect

A Cape Girardeau police car was involved in an accident on William Street just west of Sprigg Street while responding to an armed robbery at the AM-PM convenience store at 1101 William St. Monday morning. (FRED LYNCH ~ flynch@semissourian.com ) [Order this photo]

No one was hurt in a mid-morning robbery at the AM PM convenience store at 1101 William St. today, but a police cruiser was damaged while looking for the suspect.

The police car was on patrol looking for the suspect in the robbery when it was involved in an accident just west of Sprigg Street on William. No injuries were reported.

Police are still searching for the suspect — a tall black male in a black hooded sweat shirt, possibly driving a black car with tinted windows.
