Police say Scott County burglary suspect stopped by armed homeownerFriday, October 24, 2008
BENTON, Mo. — Scott County deputies arrested a 35-year-old Sikeston, Mo., man Wednesday in connection with an attempted burglary, according to a Scott County Sheriff's Department news release. Jason Roach allegedly approached a residence on County Road 538 on Tuesday and rang the doorbell. Police say Roach turned the doorknob and would have gained entry, according to the homeowner, were it not for the safety latch on the door. Roach entered the home through a rear garage entrance where he was greeted by the homeowner, who held a handgun, according to the news release. Roach allegedly told the homeowner he was lost and asked for directions. Roach had recently been charged with another burglary and was out on bond. He is being held at Scott County Jail on $5,000 cash-only bond. Comments  The nature of the Internet makes it impractical for our staff to review every comment. As far as voting for McCain. Where was McCain and Bush after Katrina when the guns from law abiding citizens who owned them were having them taken away by force in some instances? I don't recall seeing them asking for the guns NOT to be confiscated or returned. This was takening place on a Republican watch who controlled both the congress and presidency at the time.
I'd probably vote McCain if it wasn't for his VP pick. I don't think she's capable of being the president. I have all the guns I need currently.
This goes to show you some people are standing up for their constitutional rights to protect their property and person. Good for you sir.
Unless we all get out and vote for, McCain/Palin, then we'll have to sit in our house and let the bad guys break in and defend ourselves with makeshift weapons because BHO will take away our ammunition and our guns will do us no good. No hunting, no target practice, no protection, no sharing our sport with the next generations and a loss of hundreds of thousands of jobs that are directly tied to gun sales; sporting goods, hunting clubs, camping equipment and so on. I may not like bowling, pool, baseball or basketball, but that doesn't mean I don't want you to participate in your sport, so leave me/mine and others alone to do what we like to do and we'll do the same. Good people aren't the problem, and bad people will always have guns and ammunition...I like a level playing field.
(let's not start comparing what is more dangerous because if that is the case, then we need to stop driving all wheeled vehicles because people die in wrecks every day by the droves.)

Remember the Heller Decision was a five to four decision. Just one more liberal judge on the bench and we would have lost the rights recognized by the Second Amendment. What kind of judges do you think Obama will appoint to the Appellate Courts and Supreme Court. The Second Amendment case is not yet a settled issue.
I have to agree with truthselfevident. Research Obama's past positions on firearms. Prior to the Heller decision he supported the ability of local governments to ban the private ownership of handguns and said in his own words that he felt such laws were in keeping with the Second Amendment. While the Heller decision "might" prevent outright banning or confiscation of all firearms, the decision left open a lot of room for "reasonable restrictions" and what Obama and many other like minded individuals in government consider "reasonable" is far from what the average citizen views as "reasonable".
Get you head out of your swamp, swampeastmissouri. Your Obama boy has already voted in the Illinois legislature to take away handguns in Illinois. He also voted to increase the tax on guns and ammunition by over 500%. If he can’t ban guns, he will make them too expensive to own. But most of all, he voted to prosecute people who use guns for self-defense in the home. It will be like the old Affirmative Action thing (now called Diversity) whereby homeowners would have to prove the reason for their action against a claim from the criminal, or be sentenced for a crime themselves. Nobama on November 4.

No one is going to take a law abiding citizens gun away from them regardless wheither you vote for McCain or Obama let's be real here. I hear this same old story every election cycle that the democrats are going to take our guns, it is not true for law abiding citizens our second amendment rights are safe and sound regardless what some of these organizational groups say every day.

Good for the home owner. Of course nothing will probably happen to the burglar. The person who broke into my home was on parole, went back to prison then got out and resumed his career only to have it interrupted again by an armed homeowner; probably back out again now.

And people continue to say no on needs a gun in the home. This happens more often than one would imagine.
