Bertrand woman killed in Tuesday night accident

MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, Mo. — A Bertrand, Mo., woman died Tuesday of injuries sustained in an accident occurring earlier that day.

Beverly French, 69, was pronounced dead at 11 p.m. Tuesday at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, where she had been air lifted following a two-vehicle accident Tuesday at the intersection of Route B and Mississippi County Road 412.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol reports, the accident occurred at 10:30 a.m. as French's eastbound vehicle pulled into the path of a southbound vehicle driven by Stanley W. Long, 40, of Grassy, Mo. Long's vehicle struck French's, which then continued off the road and came to rest in the northbound lane. Long was uninjured.
