Governors rough up Redhawks

Sunday, October 12, 2008

Austin Peay wasted little time dispatching the Southeast Missouri State volleyball team Saturday afternoon.

The Governors cruised past the host Redhawks in three games in their Ohio Valley Conference match. Southeast never led in the final game.

Claire Keaton led the Redhawks with 12 kills, while Aubrey Dondlinger added 11.

Sarah Barth put up 32 assists, and Molly Davis finished with 10 digs.

The Governors had four players finish with double-digit kills, led by Kirstin Distler's 12.

The loss dropped Southeast to 7-7 overall and 5-3 in the OVC, while Austin Peay improved to 14-6 overall and 6-2 in the OVC.

Southeast failed to record a service ace in the match, while Austin Peay recorded six, led by Kayla Grantham's three.

Game scores were 25-22, 25-22, 25-18.

The Redhawks return to action Wednesday when they host Saint Louis University, which is ranked 27th in the latest AVCA Division I coaches poll.
