Internet safety program to be held in Jackson The Jackson School District will hold a presentation for parents called "Internet Safety, Harassment & Bullying: What Parents Can Do to Help" from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Oct. 27 in the Jackson High School library. Honor tour send-off planned at Central High World War II veterans embarking on an Honor Tour will stop at Cape Girardeau's Central High School at 9 a.m. Oct. 17 for a send-off. About 30 Southeast Missouri veterans will be traveling to Washington, D.C., to visit memorials and tour monuments. Veterans will receive the official Honor Tour cap during the 30-minute send-off program. The program is open to the public. Recycling center to take appliances, electronics Cape Girardeau County residents can dispose of unusable electronic items and small appliances from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 25 at Jackson's Recycling Center, 508 Eastview Court. Items accepted include lawn mowers, refrigerators, microwaves, cameras, vacuum cleaners and hair dryers. AAA, AA, C, or D batteries, radioactive materials, tires and items containing mercury will not be accepted. There is a $10 charge for each computer monitor or television, but other accepted items will be disposed of for free. A list of acceptable items is available at www.jacksonmo.org/CityServices/recycle.aspx.
