Today

* Breast-feeding class: 3 to 4:30 p.m. Southeast Missouri Hospital meeting room 107. The class covers topics such as the benefits and techniques of breast feeding, family involvement and support. To register, call 332-1587.

* Childbirth refresher class: 6 to 8 p.m. Southeast Missouri Hospital meeting room 107. The class is a one-session review of labor, delivery, interventions and sibling rivalry issues. To register, call 332-1587.

* Preparation for childbirth class: 5:30 to 9 p.m. at Saint Francis Medical Center. A comprehensive guide to expected bodily changes, labor signs and stages, pain control techniques and basic infant care. Tips on relaxing, positioning and breathing will also be discussed. Refreshments will be provided. Bring the "Pregnancy, Childbirth and Parenting Kit" provided by your physician's office. Call 877-231-2229 to register.

Wednesday

* Sibling class: 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Wellness Connection at West Park Mall. The class, for children ages 4 to 8, teaches what it means to be a big brother or big sister. Children learn how to hold a baby and help with diapering and feeding. Sibling class graduates receive diplomas. To register, call 332-1587.

Thursday

* Your Health Care Matters: A Community Discussion: 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Osage Community Centre. Local elected officials and candidates lead a community discourse about the health-care issues affecting the community. * Asthma education: 6:30 to 9 p.m. in Southeast Missouri Hospital meeting room 106. Southeast Missouri Hospital Respiratory Care practitioners will provide a free asthma education program for children, adults and their families. To register, call 332-1587.

Saturday

* Heart Walk: 10 a.m. at the Osage Community Centre. A new 5K walk/run will be held at 7:30 a.m., followed by the Heart Walk at 10 a.m. Run/fitness walk registration will begin at 6:15 a.m., followed by Heart Walk registration starting at 8:30 a.m. The Heart Walk kick-off celebration is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. For more information, call 243-2211.

* Infant care class: 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Saint Francis Medical Center. A caregiver's manual for parents, grandparents and other care providers, Saint Francis' infant care class covers topics such as feeding, daily care, infant sleeping patterns and valuable health and safety information.
