Economy a lot like my favorite football team

Sunday, October 5, 2008

While watching my alma mater lose to Missouri's football team Saturday evening, I began to think about how the economy is a lot like the University of Nebraska's performance during the Tigers' 35 point victory. Though the Huskers were doing their best to compete, the numerous mistakes were too much to overcome. But in a few years the problems should be reduced greatly and the team will begin to recover. It'll be interesting to see what happens to our economy over the next few months and years. The key will be having the right coaches to turn around our program.

As a teacher I use analogy's like that all the time to get points across.

Yeah, it was an interesting weekend ithica.
And BABE, I wasn't trying to sound like the loss of a football game was on the same level of the economy. Afterall, we understand that the outcome of a football game is pointless compared to unemployment (of course, some people I know treat the loss of their favorite team like a death in the family). In fact, I know people who have closed their businesses here in Cape or lost their jobs because of our awful economy. But what I was trying to do is equate the level of performance of two different organizations or aspects of American life. And they both stink.

Cubs and Huskers all in one weekend, bummer for you.

What a profound analogy to compare the enconomy to a football team.
