Outstanding Science Teacher Award

Monday, September 29, 2008

They're in high demand, they don't get paid what they're worth, and they're never recognized enough. This could be the reason why nationally, 22 percent of all new teachers leave the profession in the first three years.

One of the goals of Science Day is to recognize science educators. The Steve Spangler Science Day 2008 Teacher Award recognizes a science educator for their work and innovations in the classroom. There were more than 150 nominations this year and Malden High School science teacher Ms. Caysie Heil earned the Steve Spangler Science Day 2008 Teacher Award.

1st Place - Ms. Caysie Heil - Malden High School - Malden, MO

2nd Place - Mrs. Dianna Lynne Karnes - St Vincent De Paul Elementary School - Cape Girardeau, MO

3rd Place - Mrs. Elizabeth Jensen - Cumberland Trace Elementary School - Bowling Green, KY

A panel at Southeast Missouri State University selected the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. The 1st place winner earned a $200 gift certificate to www.stevespanglerscience.com, the 2nd place winner will earned a $100 gift certificate to www.stevespanglerscience.com, and the 3rd place winner earned a $50 gift certificate to www.stevespanglerscience.com. Each winner will be recognized at Science Day 2008 on Friday October 3, 2008.

Science Day is Friday!  Go to http://www.hookedonscience.org/scienceday2008.html for more information about Science Day 2008.
