Mo. Democrats file ethics complaint against LagerWednesday, September 24, 2008
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — A state ethics complaint accuses Republican state treasurer candidate Brad Lager of improperly reporting his campaign's credit card purchases. The complaint was filed Wednesday with the Missouri Ethics Commission by Democratic Party Executive Director Ken Franklin. The complaint accuses Lager of reporting only the total amounts of campaign credit card spending without listing individual purchases. In a news release, Democrats said they found five examples going back to February where Lager's campaign finance reports included only credit card expenses without detailing what was purchased and from whom. Lager's campaign manager Bryan Sanders had no immediate comment about the complaint. The Missouri Ethics Commission can neither confirm nor deny when it receives complaints.
