Help Set a World Record in Southeast Missouri

Science Day 2008

Science Day 2008 will take place on Friday, October 3rd at West Park Mall in Cape Girardeau from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. Montgomery Bank will give the first 500 kids a FREE Science Day shirt.

From 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. folks can visit various booths and try different science experiments that might get the entire family Hooked on Science.

From 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. the community will unite and attempt a world record by blowing up the most balloons in an hour. The record will not only help put this region in the record books but will teach everyone that air takes up space.

Nominate an Educator for the Steve Spangler Science Day 2008 Teacher Award

Hooked on Science and Steve Spangler will honor an outstanding science teacher at Science Day 2008. The award recognizes a science educator for their work and innovations in the classroom. We encourage you to nominate a science educator for this recognition. All forms must be received by September 19, 2008.

A panel at Southeast Missouri State University will select a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner. The 1st place winner will earn a $200 gift certificate to www.stevespanglerscience.com, the 2nd place winner will earn a $100 gift certificate to www.stevespanglerscience.com, and the 3rd place winner will earn a $50 gift certificate to www.stevespanglerscience.com. Each winner will be recognized at Science Day 2008 on Friday October 3, 2008.

Help Name the Science Day 2008 Blizzard

Dairy Queen and Hooked on Science need your help to determine the name for the DQ Science Day 2008 blizzard. The blizzard will ooze with science! Go to www.hookedonscience.org and tell us what you think the blizzard should be named. The official DQ Science Day 2008 blizzard name will be announced on September 26, 2008 based on your vote. Starting Monday, September 8, 2008 you can go to www.hookedonscience.org to download a coupon that will allow you to get $1 off your Science Day 2008 blizzard.

Science Day 2008 Coloring Contest

Hooked on Science and the Extended & Continuing Education office at Southeast Missouri State University is looking for the kid scientist that can color the best. The winner will earn a prize. Coloring contest prizes will be awarded in three categories.

Science Day 2008 Costume Contest

Hooked on Science and the Southeast Missourian are searching for the best scientist costume. Come dressed like a scientist at Science Day 2008 and you could earn a prize.

Science Day 2008 Blood Drive

The Southeast Missouri Chapter of the American Red Cross and Hooked on Science are teaming up on Science Day. You can help save a life by giving blood at the Science Day 2008 Blood Drive.
