Speak Out 9/5/08Friday, September 5, 2008
No bike parking A month or so back you ran an article about bike lanes and other bike-related matters in Cape Girardeau. I am all for bike lanes, but getting to places on a bike isn't the problem. In my opinion, the problem currently is that when you get somewhere you have no place to put your bike. We have a number of "plazas," "villages," etc. and other places that have several stores in them, yet they have no bike racks of any sort. If you look at any city that does have a large number of bicyclist, they all have bike racks all over the place. Drinking not that bad I JUST wanted to say that the article that was in last Thursday about raising the drinking age to 25 because it kills brain cells is not true. I just wanted to let you know that alcohol actually kills off the weak brain cells like a wolf picking off the weak sheep in the back of the herd. It takes off the bad ones. So it actually could help you in the long run if you drink in moderation. Shame on CNN LAST WEEK, I witnessed one of the most chilling things that I've ever seen in my 63 years on this earth. I watched Bill Maher promoting his upcoming movie on Larry King. In the course of his comedy routine, he expressed the need for the 16 percent of atheists in the U.S. to band together to stop this Jesus and God fantasy. Well, he has a right to believe or not to believe. But shame on Larry King and CNN for promoting him on national television. That 16 percent is hogwash. This is a Christian nation except for a few like him. Will I go to see his movie? Hell, no. Refreshing Palin HOW REFRESHING it was to hear Gov. Palin speak about the sanctity of life. She has delivered five children into this world, the last of which has Down syndrome. I also respect Sen. Obama's hands-off approach to this matter. Even though he said that this topic is above his pay grade, he too must have a feeling for the sanctity of life. Eyesore at school CAN SOMEBODY please clean up our school and ground at North Elementary? It's a big eyesore. Public information I WOULD just like to ask Presiding Commissioner Gerald Jones when he is going to get it through his head that county business is not something that he can discuss at will — it is public information. The days of his good-old-boy activities are over. He should not be discussing county business in private. Plenty of time THERE HAS already been questions about whether Gov. Palin will have to time to fulfill the duties of vice president while being mother to five children. Come on, now. If Dick Cheney can take Haliburton from bankruptcy to a multibillion-dollar company and still fulfill the duties of vice president, then what's the problem? A beer-drinking road I WAS just wanting to know about the County Road 532 issue. I've lived out in this area for more than 30 years. Mainly, the area they're talking about is lower than the water. Nobody lives down there. You can get out from one end to other. Basically, that's just a beer-drinking road for all these years. We've never had any type of emergency out there, if you can't get out from one end to the other. There's no houses on this road, there never has been. It's strictly a flat road and I can't understand why they are doing all this work to it. Politics and morality CAN ANYONE please explain to me how you can be a Christian and still vote Democrat and condone abortion and gay marriages? I just need that question answered. Leave children alone THE CHILDREN of political candidates should be off-limits for the news. I'm not even going to mention the names of the candidates or their children because it shouldn't be discussed. We should leave the children alone. Let's talk about the politics and the reasons people want to run for office. Let's talk about how they serve in office. Let's talk about the job that they want to do for the country. But let's not talk about their children. Children have to grow up by themselves. GOP made wrong choice WHEN ALL the smoke and dust is cleared and all this done, you realize we could have had Rudy Giuliani running for president and maybe even Joe Lieberman for vice president. It's just like one of those old V-8 commercials where you hit yourself on the head and say "Oh, we could have had this." Sacrifice vs. choice I WONDER how many families have had the heartbreak of a teenage daughter getting pregnant. I would say very few. Our heart breaks when we hear of our young men killed in service, the sacrifice they give. We kill more people every day in our country by abortion than in the wars. That is a sacrifice, but abortion is a choice. Shake things up I AM so glad we're going to finally get a candidate in Washington that's going to shake things up like McCain instead of another cookie-cutter Democrat like Obama. More praise for Newt I'D LIKE to thank the person who called in and gave Newt Gingrich credit as the one who balanced the budget during the Clinton administration. Bill Clinton had nothing to do with that and yet he stands up in front of everyone at the convention and takes credit. But Newt Gingrich was the one who did it. Tied down too late I Just want to thank the fellow traveling on Highway 34 west around Burfordville Saturday afternoon. He was towing a small trailer filled with lumber. Two pieces fell off, and due to oncoming traffic I could not miss them. As I traveled on, I came upon the fellow tieing down his load. Too late. When I arose Sunday morning, my passenger side tires were both flat. Thanks to his carelessness, I now probably need to replace my tires. Political food for thought If, as the Republican spin machine is trying to argue, to criticize Sarah Palin's lack of experience is "demeaning to women," then surely it is equally true that to criticize Obama's lack of experience is demeaning to blacks?

In reference to the Speak Out: "Flat Tire"
It was the driver's fault for not having his load not tied properly and the lumber falling off the trailer. Its your fault for running over it, your suppiose to keep a safe distance behind other vehicles.
Even though we are not driving OTR anymore,Thank God, I still drive defensivly.
Rule of thumb: If you can read the make of vehicle on the back, your too close. It only takes that one uh-oh, to ruin your whole day. Aggie
John: I heard on a talk show that Hussein wanted to appeal to white male voters. In which he believes, are a problem. Is this why he has white male advisers? I'm not sure, just an observence.
Just as McCain's choice in Palin to women voters of either race.
This is only my opinion. Aggie
Can anyone help me out confirming or disproving an odd, bizarre, &/or coincidental observation that I had today? Does the Obama campaign have anything but white guys as spokesmen? Bill Burton, David Axlerod, and another guy I saw on CNN today are all white guys, what gives here?
Its been a long day and I quit!!
This is for my friend Aggie! Don't give up on Nickey shes seems to be a great kid and as I said before she will make a GREAT REPUBLICAN someday!
Little Johnny's kindergarten class was on a field trip to their local police station where they saw pictures, tacked to a bulletin board, of the 10 most wanted criminals. One of the youngsters pointed to a picture and asked if it really was the photo of a wanted person. "Yes," said the policeman. "The detectives want very badly to capture him." Little Johnny asked, "Why didn't you keep him when you took his picture?"
good one. lol
Silent Bob: I appriciate your research you have done. For the last 7 yrs. I have tried my best to show Nickey the differances between the parties. I know how fustrating it is for you to explain the truth. Nickey is hard-headed, like her mom, "cough". Nickey is a follower, she only hates Bush because I like him. She is only voting for Hussein Obama because he is a rock star.
She is very intelligent and a good parent, just not well-informed. She means well and has a good heart, just misunderstood. One day, I pray, she will think on her own. To see people for WHAT they are.
People as yourself, Pups, Melange and Bethie are so "user friendly". We can agree to disagree.
People like Babeitch could fall off the face of the earth and I for one could care less. I have never disliked someone I never met so bad than her.
Anyhow, keep up the good work.
Oh, before I forget, You too Herr. I do miss talking to ya'll as we did before, but these rigs are coming in so fast, and we are loosing hands because the work is hard and long hours.
Aggie
Topic beat....for now.....
Thanks too, for sharing and listening.
Later....
Silent Bob,
Then TALK to your uncle. I don't state things as true that I am uncertain about. Google it yourself, you will find tons of backup.
Just an example,

NO NEED FOR CONCERN!! If someone can get by the 75# American Bull dog they would have to knock out a wall and still need a forklift to get my weapons.
OK then we have beat this horse to death!!
Whats next? and Thanks very much for the civility its a breath of fresh air after the last few days! YES?
**RIP BIG JIM HICKAM, YOU WILL BE SADLY MISSED. THANK YOU FOR YOUR DEDICATION TO KRCU AND YOUR FOLK CONNECTION.**
This is true

Please Theorist, This is NOT true its a sentence copied from a newspaper article. What I asked for was the Law or State fire arm code that gives a full pardon to premeditated murder.
My uncle is retired ATF that happened to be an advisor on the Jonesboro case, I will be glad to divulge his name to you so you can do more research if you like but you will have to e-mail me at silent_bob58@live.com because we already know that we don't share names here!!
Believe it or not I understand your position (on guns), I just disagree with it. And believe me those boys Cannot buy weapons legally!!
Babe...
Many eleven year old children have 'access' to firearms as well as knives, matches and chain saws. It is not the instrument that kill but the evil person.
-- Posted by BABE on Fri, Sep 5, 2008, 9:29 pm CDT
Yes, and as Bob said, People kill people....
BUT
They can kill a lot more, a lot quicker with a gun, than with a knife.
Bob,
I hope and suspect you are a responsible gun owner. The statement you made...
I even have a military grade weapon. And at no time in my life have I ever seen the need to use it. In fact I hope that it rots in the gun case before I actually find out that I need it!!
-- Posted by Silent_Bob on Fri, Sep 5, 2008, 9:46 pm CDT
concerns me, not because I fear your misuse. Are you aware of how many home burglaries are solely for guns?
Listen....I am well aware of where I am geographically, and just how this area feels about their "guns"....Gotta laugh because I can't say that without thinking about Military training...This is my rifle, this is my gun, one is for fighting, one is for fun....
I just hope, by presenting some other thoughts/views, it might make someone else think!!!
Bob,
I know this as fact, but cut and pasted Wikipedia for you...
"Johnson was released from custody on August 11, 2005, his 21st birthday. Golden was released on May 25, 2007. He was only 20 years of age. Many members of the Jonesboro community have since expressed outrage, citing the facts that the killers will not be placed under any supervision and will be able to legally purchase firearms."
This is true
Theorist
If you have a fear for guns that's something that you need to work out.
I personally own several, all of which have different uses. I even have a military grade weapon. And at no time in my life have I ever seen the need to use it. In fact I hope that it rots in the gun case before I actually find out that I need it!!
Thought the Supreme Court settled the firearms thing?
If taught to respect fire arms, you usually do. If you can not respect fire arms and you commit a crime you go to jail.
I will go out on a limb and say, anyone who shows signs of anger, frustration, stress, discouragement etc. should not be in proximity of firearms.
-- Posted by Theorist on Fri, Sep 5, 2008, 9:29 pm CDT
These would include all of the men and women that fought and died for your right to speak such garbage, as well as every police man or woman on every force in every city of every country on earth.
When was the last time you got mad and killed someone??
Reminds me of my second favorite bumper sticker.
Ted Kennedy has killed more people with his car than I have with my handgun.
Theorist
Abortion SHOULD be less safe and scary. There would be less of them.
Theorist
If you don't like the law that allows juveniles to be released at 21 and their record expunged then that is an entirely different argument.
My ten year old granddaughter received a pellet gun for her birthday and is quite a little marksman...er woman. giggle
WRONG
In the state of Arkansas, since they were minors when the murders occured, their records were erased. They were indeed, all clear to purchase firearms. Look it up!!!!!!
-- Posted by Theorist on Fri, Sep 5, 2008, 9:18 pm CDT
I respectfully request that you show me the record where any State will completely abolish the Crime of Premeditated Murder.
I don't think you can! Prove me wrong.
Bob...
"If you have so much trouble with my right to keep and bear arms then you should live elsewhere." posted by silent_bob
What a "lame" argument. I could easily counter, if you feel the need to point guns, you should live elsewhere.
We disagree....but I am trying to explain why I feel my position is valid. You should be thankful your sons are stable. The Jonesboro boy's dad thought his son was too! He had taken the gun safety course and was well trained. What went wrong?
IMO, children are not capable of judging the appropriate time to use firearms. Ever! Heck, I will go out on a limb and say, anyone who shows signs of anger, frustration, stress, discouragement etc. should not be in proximity of firearms.
Theorist
Many eleven year old children have 'access' to firearms as well as knives, matches and chain saws. It is not the instrument that kill but the evil person.
Debate?
-- Posted by Theorist on Fri, Sep 5, 2008, 9:16 pm CDT
Not this time! I will never change your mind and it is not my intention to try. You are a lost socialist errr I mean soul. Now I REQUEST that before you start slamming with all of your slightly warped opinions on my post go to the bottom of it and read the data that it provided.
That post was directed towards Nickey because she asked for REAL data On BOTH candidates. Next!!
I have two grown sons, they have been around guns all of their lives and they got their first (shot guns )at age 10. You have never seen them on TV for killing another because they are well grounded individuals that respect and obey the laws of the land and I was very strict on gun safety. If you have so much trouble with my right to keep and bear arms then you should live elsewhere. And if ever you need someone to protect you until the police arrive in a dire situation good luck.
Remember if you outlaw guns, The outlaws will still be armed.
Silent Bob,
Even though they are free at age 21 they cannot legally purchase fire arms and the word eligible that you used is incorrect, As you stated --arrested again for firearm violations! Firearms that he was not supposed-to be around,
WRONG
In the state of Arkansas, since they were minors when the murders occured, their records were erased. They were indeed, all clear to purchase firearms. Look it up!!!!!!
Quiet Robert....
Lets look at another issue...
Supports abortion throughout the pregnancy
No
Yes
That is McCain No, Obama Yes.
I struggle personally with this one, for I believe abortion is a moral issue, and should not be on the election platform.
Outlawing abortion would be like prohibition. Abortions would still occur, just less safe and far scarier. Plus, we all know there are instances where abortion is warranted for the sake of the mother.
If you believe in God, then you have learned that God is omnipotent (all powerful). I like to think he is still in control, has provided the technology for reason, and would like for us to personally make the right choice.
Debate?
Babe...
They should still be in prison. Their judicial treatment has nothing to do with the right to bear arms.
-- Posted by BABE on Fri, Sep 5, 2008, 8:32 pm CDT
Excuse me? They should have NO RIGHT to bear arms, period. Let me go one step further....they should never have had access to a gun. Why did the 11 year olds father have this many, and this type of guns to begin with. Because it was his right?
I personally think you, Babe, are not in a "sound enough" mind to carry. *giggle*
Seems they were free at 21 and eligible to buy fire arms...Guess what? the 13 year old (now 21+)was arrested again for, firearm violations
Should this have happened? Ask the families of the ones he murdered.
Do you support gun ownership rights? Did this boy need a gun?????????
-- Posted by Theorist on Fri, Sep 5, 2008, 8:08 pm CDT
Even though they are free at age 21 they cannot legally purchase fire arms and the word eligible that you used is incorrect, As you stated --arrested again for firearm violations! Firearms that he was not supposed-to be around,
My heart goes out to the families of the dead and no this boy did not NEED a gun!!
Yes I support gun ownership, But I also support back ground checks, and the death penalty (which these boys should have received)
Guns do not kill people
People kill people
And if you murder someone you should die!!
If someone comes to kill me or even you in my home they better be fast because I also believe in the right to protect myself with lethal force. OK?
I suggest that Theorist is thinking along the same lines I am - although we may reach different conclusions on our individual candidate-of-choice.
Look at the issues, see where the candidates stand, evaluate what each issue means to you and rank the order of importance, then tally the 'score'. This is what I so-liked about Silent_Bob's post - don't have to listen to an hour of fluffy yada-yada to glean a few bits of info.
IMO, there will likely never be the 'perfect' candidate - just have to make a personal choice to pick the candidate that best aligns with one's personal ideals.
Theorist
That dog won't hunt. Those boys should have been tried as adults and not juveniles. They should still be in prison. Their judicial treatment has nothing to do with the right to bear arms.
Theorist,
IMO - no law is going to keep a convicted felon from aquiring a firearm.
Bob
Thank you for the real stats and sources.
get 'em Silent_Bob !!
Thanks, Silent_Bob - that's the way I like information presented - side-by-side - devoid of the smoke-and-mirrors, the warm fuzzy talk with the corresponding twisted interpretations.
This could put a serious 'hurt' on the arguments of some - is there a Doctor in the house? :-)~
Grit...
Well done! Too bad the poster will probably never read your response. Thank you for clarifying for others though...
Not so silent Bob,
Lets break this down a bit, I wish to start with this one, but if you prefer another, so be it...
Supports gun ownership rights
Yes
No
That is McCain yes, Obama no.....well lets look at the Jonesboro School shootings, remember back in 1998 when two students ages 11, and 13 killed 5 people and wounded many more. Seems they were free at 21 and eligible to buy fire arms...Guess what? the 13 year old (now 21+)was arrested again for, firearm violations
Should this have happened? Ask the families of the ones he murdered.
Do you support gun ownership rights? Did this boy need a gun?????????
gehagge---nice post---thought you were in the education field---hope you are not my kids teacher
For Nickey:

up
paying that tax, plus the sales tax in that tax!!!!!!!

Notsure,
Passing back through. No we don't know each other, I just thought from your previous posts that you were above that type of stuff; my mistake.
Notsure,
Thank you for backing off. And I apologize for what I said about you. I came off strong because I don't have any tolerance for what you did. Excuses, excuses... I will back off as well.
Yes, the cussing attackers are coming out like cockroaches tonight. Pesky things, See what Palin has caused? A civil war.
You are right. I do not know what you do all day. One thing is for sure: you are a waste of space. Have you ever thought that you may get some respect if you show it?
I think it is incredibly heartless that you rub another person's pain in their face. Who cares how she wronged you!!!
What is incredibly pathetic is that you sit around on your fat ass all day laughing at people you don't even know. You get a big ******* ***** off riding people's ass everyday. I sincerely hope you fall out of a building. That would help out the gene pool a lot you ignorant ****.
and just when I thought it was going to be a quiet night......
Notforsure,
You are a silly little ****! How dare you make light of someone's pain on a public forum! I hope someone you in the ******* forehead you mistake of a person!
I really don't believe you think that justifies it, if so I have misjudged you.
*dusting self off* Well then, where were we?
Don't know Babe or anything about her, but getting a divorce is nothing to laugh about or make fun of; never been through it, but I know good people who have.
The Doctor + Robert Goodbooty = 2 suckers......
The best line I heard about Sarah Palin during the frenzied orgy of chauvinist condescension and gutter-crawling journalistic intrusion that greeted her nomination for vice-president a week ago came from a correspondent who knows a thing or two about Alaska.
“What's the difference between Sarah Palin and Barack Obama?”
“One is a well turned-out, good-looking, and let's be honest, pretty sexy piece of eye-candy.
“The other kills her own food.”

Ok Doctor, sign off now, and sign back on as Robert Goodbooty, Ducky....and whoever else you use to hide behind......hahahahahahahaha
LOL. I just figured out who Stoops Malone is. Man...you just can't take it when the Republicons get slammed, dunked, and funked. LOL What a dork!

Surely, you do not doubt the veracity of the National Enquirer, do you?
R-G, so why should anyone take one of the Most Stupid People on Earth, such as yourself, seriously? I do want to thank you, though, for proving that theory of yours. You really are stupid.
Thank you for reminding me about what Cindy McCain wore to the Convention the night that Palin spoke.
Cindy McCain's outfit cost over $300,000 dollars American. Now, I have a friend, who is a doctor, he works his butt off week after week. Say he made $300,000 a year. Cindy McCain wore his entire annual salary to the convention that night.
Think about it, can, or, do these people really relate to you? Are you in the lower upper class, the middle class, or, are you a small business owner? Do you really, really think that people like the McCain's, the bushes, the Clintons, the Cheney's, the Rockefellers really relate to you, your situation, your economic station, your beliefs? Do you think that they really give a rat's a** about you?
So, why do you relate and identify with them? Why do you talk their talking points? Why do you look down on those who have less than you do? Shouldn't you be identifying with those who have common interests with you, instead of trying to gain the social acceptance and accolade of those who think that you, even if you are worth a few millions, are pond scum to them.
I just do not understand your logic.
Fajar--
Not everyone working a $7.00 an hour job is an unskilled person. Hope you have a better time at the next Dairy Queen you go to. That being said---I have a college degree and am working a $7.00/hr job part time in the evenings because I choose to be home with my kid during the day (and I plan to go back to school to change careers). My new industry, however, is not fast food. I can also say..not my first job either. Been working without any breaks for around 11 years or so now. Granted...if you come to my establishment...I do it right the first time.
Robert Goodbody---
Oh God...Not being invited to Oprah?!!! How sad!!
Gimmie a frickin break. You don't get invited to Oprah unless you are liberal!! Look back at her history of shows!!! She's not supporting anyone who is conservative...she never invites them or talks to them. Her show is a platform for her own agenda. More power to her and all...but I doubt Sarah Palin is crying if she doesn't get invited to Oprah.
She could probably get invited if she'd just take up Scientology or Kabbalah or something.
What I'm trying to say; concentrate on the politician. When you concentrate on their families, you will end up electing the critters that we end up with.
ok well its been fun gotta go. gotta get ready for a road trip
Once again, they prove that AMERICANS ARE GOD'S MOST STUPIDEST PEOPLE ON EARTH.....we just aren't the people that we were just 50 years ago.

States. He said one lady who said she was a college

I feel the same exact way if the wife isn't on the ticket leave her out of it AND anything she says or does or even what she wears
I think that ringing a politician's family into a race can be harmful to the family. Leave the families alone, they will hold no position in government.
Babe,
Good point. I was aware of that, but I was speaking more along the line of political candidates and especially the Clinton's who ran with the mantra of "two for the price of one".
I think Laura Bush has been a perfect example of a presidential spouse as she does not appear to try to influence policy and takes care of the duties that would seem appropriate to the spouse of the president. Of course one could always argue that we do not know what goes on behind closed doors and I know more than one man who blusters how much he wears the pants in the family only to jump two feet in the air when his wife calls him. Just my opinion, but I don't think GW is one of those.
go figure
Your post of 2:10 is very compassionate. But as long as abortion is legal women will kill their babies for convenience and the slack jawed boyfriends will drive them to the clinic to avoid paying eighteen years of child support.
Cindy McCain's daddy and a partner took the risk of investing $10,000, which they had to scrounge, in a little known franchise called Anheiser-Busch which they introduced to the west. He became rich. What do people find wrong with parents passing their gains to their children?
This statement is actually quite hypocritical of you to say Babe considering that in the past you have blasted me for getting help from my parents or blasted them for giving me help but since it was "given" to your precious Cindy McCain its ok???? Give me a break
It would seem so once again proving my point of the double standards of SOME not ALL people in this area.
KCPO
I am not even really too sure how much relevance what they say or do has unless there is good cause to believe the spouse will act as co-president or have undue influence on the president. Of course I am not sure we can ever know that.

Actually we do know. Both 41 and 43 Bush president's spouses are pro choice. I remember when Laura slipped and said that she was, the press could hardly contain themselves at a presser. President Bush calmly responded to their breathless questions by saying that "I'm president and she is not".
PALIN'S UNION TROUBLES... OOOPS.. THEY FLILE SUIT!
The Union that represents Alaskan State Trooper Mike Wooten is about to file an ethics charge against, Palin, your choice for VP, and your representative of moral values.
http://news.bostonherald.com/...
"ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The union representing state Trooper Mike Wooten has filed an ethics complaint against Gov. Sarah Palin and members of her administration charging a possible unlawful breach of Wooten’s confidential personnel and workers’ compensation files.
It’s the latest twist in what has become the subject of global media scrutiny -- whether Palin, the newly minted Republican vice presidential candidate, abused her powers as governor to try to drive her former brother-in-law out of the trooper ranks.
Palin and her family have accused Wooten, who was involved in a messy divorce with the governor’s sister, of a variety of misdeeds such as threatening her family and drinking while driving his patrol car. Palin insists she didn’t use the trooper’s continued employment as an excuse to fire a member of her cabinet, Walt Monegan, who supervised the troopers as commissioner of public safety."
Could the National Enquirer be right about Sarah Palin wanting Bristol to get married before the news that she was knocked up got out? The Enquirer was going to release the story,so, Palin had no choice but to announce the soon-to-be arrival of her daughter's love child.
PALIN WAR: TEEN PREGO CRISIS
"Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin attempted to quietly have her daughter Bristol get married before news of her pregnancy leaked out, the NATIONAL ENQUIRER is reporting exclusively in its new issue.
Palin planned for the wedding to take place right after the Republican National Convention and then she was going to announce the pregnancy.
But Bristol, 17, refused to go along with the plan and that sparked a mother-daughter showdown over the failed coverup.
The ultra-conservative governor’s announcement about her daughter’s pregnancy came hours after The ENQUIRER informed her representatives and family members of Levi Johnston, the father of Bristol’s child, that we were aware of the pregnancy and were going to break the news.
In a preemptive strike Palin released the news, creating political shockwaves.
The ENQUIRER has also learned that Palin’s family is embroiled in a vicious war that is now exposing her darkest secrets, threatening to destroy her political career.
Palin’s ongoing war with her ex brother-in-law Mike Wooten, a state trooper, has caused multiple sources to come forward with shocking allegations about the governor.
Details of those allegations, the family feud, and Palin’s attempt to cover up her teen daughter’s pregnancy are in the new issue of The ENQUIRER"

According to the Enquirer, Palin will not be invited to be on OPRAH.

I agree lil lady. Bush and 9-11, right man for the job. Could've tweeked some things that would've saved a few troops, but he acted. He lead.
After that, I disagree with much of his domestic deals, but all in all he gets C Plus.
Sorry I missed lunch. Work was needy.
Goodbody!

or what?Your hatred toward other human beings is pathetic as are most of your cut and paste post. Why not

Cindy McCain's daddy and a partner took the risk of investing $10,000, which they had to scrounge, in a little known franchise called Anheiser-Busch which they introduced to the west. He became rich. What do people find wrong with parents passing their gains to their children? Cindy has contributed much both in monetary means and personal charity. She took a cleft palate child home from an orphanage overseas and adopted her. It's none of my business how folks spend their money but I surely admire her.
Fajar,
It appears you are suggesting that I have complained about the Bush administration. Sorry, I'll have to correct you. I have not. I have however, stated (twice, maybe three times) that "I" would prefer something other than what our country has experienced in the last 8 years (ie Bush administration).
Honestly, seriously was considering voting for Bush in 2001-2003. I respected how he handled 9/11 and a few other issues. By the time election year rolled around, other issues that I did not like outweighted the few good issues. Thus, I decided not to vote. Did NOT like Kerry...NOR did I like Gore.
Take it from a former politician who couldn't get elected as dog catcher if he tried. Politics is a game of seduction. Speeches are designed to seduce the public into voting for them. To get elected is a climax. It is to be expected that someone who spends their lifetime in seduction they would sometimes turn to actual physical involvement. All men are politicians when they are single.

"Iraq govt reacts sharply to US spying allegations
By ANNA JOHNSON
Associated Press Writer
BAGHDAD (AP) -- The Iraqi government reacted sharply Friday to published allegations that the U.S. spied on Iraq's prime minister, warning that future ties with the United States could be in jeopardy if the report were true.
The allegations appear by a new book, "The War Within: A Secret White House History, 2006-2008," by journalist Bob Woodward, who writes that the United States spied extensively on Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, his staff and other government officials.
The report emerged as the two governments are in delicate negotiations over the future of American troops in Iraq. Those talks have already extended past their July 31 deadline and have drawn sharp criticism from Iraqis who want an end to the U.S. presence.
Critics may well use the allegation to step up pressure on the government not to sign a deal or hold out for the most favorable terms.
Iraqi government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh said Baghdad will raise the allegations with the U.S. and ask for an explanation. But if true, he warned, it shows a lack of trust."
Babe: I wouldn't take the accusations very serious. And yes there are hypocrites in the Democrat Party same as the other one.
Whether or not she had an affair has nothing to do with her ability to govern.
Sunshine -
Not sure exactly what happened - capeeats.com went down a couple of months back from what I can tell. Suspecting that 'life happened' - marriage, etc., and the moderator found other things rating higher on the ol' list of priorities.
It was a good site - enjoyed reading the mostly unbiased feedbacks on the various eateries around town.
fajar154: Very good advice.
gofigure: A very libertaian position.
The National Enquirer may or may not have a story of Gov Palin having an affair. If it's true then they must show the evidence just like they did with Edwards. I must say that it would matter to me if she did but I am puzzled by the attitudes of liberal women. They huff and puff of the possibility all the while defending Bill Clinton and his affairs as a 'family matter'. giggle
What happened to capeeats.com?

TO THE MINIMUMLY PAYED FOR LACK OF WORK
WHY DID THE PEOPLE CRY, SCREAM, WHINE FOR A MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE AND NOT BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND THE MEANING OF "NO MAYO. EXTRA MUSTARD?"
Hey Dairy Queen in Sikeston, I should expect listening NOT to be apart of your social equation. Texting and putting holes in various places on your face are things that you are good at, but it is tough to pay the bills. Does this apply to everyone? No. But if you are on the low-end of the pay scale, then it is to be expected that you have zero job skills. So this job, any fastfood joint comes to mind, is probably your first. This is your training ground. Taking your life's experiences, from birth to now, and using them to learn new ones so you don't HAVE to work for seven bucks an hour.
Living on minimum wage and trying to raise a family is not my problem. It is hard, but easily fixed. Get a better job. Burger flipping and "You want fries with that." isn't all glitz so stay in school and stay off the Meth.

I also try not to. My statement was not necessarily directed toward you and I'm sorry if it seemed that way it was more for everyone to kind of reflect on more or less. Sort of I guess pointing out a double standard.

gofigure,
your last post was excellent!
well said and I could not agree more.
Dexterite,
Do you think she cares what you have to say about her parents, how much money she has, or the types of clothes she wears? Get real.
Maybe we should take note that these attacks on Republicans could be used against their Democrat counterparts. People say that Palin is neglecting her parental duties when she took on this honor. Give me a break! I bet that Obama can count on one hand how many times he has tucked in both of his kids AND his wife in the last 6 months.
Look at the facts: Cindy McCain has done more in the government than Obama has in his lifetime. Any monkey can say, "Here" whenever their name is called. Any moron can author two books about himself and not have his name on a single piece of legislature. Anyone who has not been in the military can act like they "know how it feels."
As a Catholic who votes democratic often, well said Grit. I agree. Rather than legislate morality and making abortion illegal, I as a Christian see it as my obligation to make it so that no young girl would ever want to desire one. Rather than putting all of our efforts into trying to erradicate abortion, HELP the young girls who are incapable of caring for themselves or newborns. Help those who have quit school in order to have their child. Give them a place to live, take them in when they get thrown out of their parent's homes. Not everyone's parents are as wonderful as the Palins. There are ways to discourage others from aborting babies ... not just by laws, but rather by example.
Hilleco,
yes yes indeed this would be a very good thing!!
My eyes and ears will be paying attention to this

that statement is nearly impossible to debate.I am so
tired of these Demopublicans abusing their powers as well as our Constitution!

Nickey and notsureitsafeinhere,
We all do each other a disservice when we group each other under one another under the same category. Neither "conservatives" nor "liberals" are better than the other and I really try not to generalize. I really don't even care much for the labels of liberal or conservative as I do not think that does justice to our own unique personalities.
Out for a bit, have a good afternoon.
I just find it funny like you said yesterday that she demands repspect and yet cannot seem to muster it up for anyone else. In my world you have to give to get but I guess I just live somewhere off base.
Thanks by the way Better to be called spunky than other things LOL
I am out for a while, as a "conservative" I feel compelled to go drown some kittens. Feel free to talk among yourselves.
KCPO you have a valid point there but at the same time money will make the wife shut up look at how long it kept Hilary quiet!!! (joking) just trying to lighten the mood ya know gettin kinda deep in here!

notsureitsafeinhere,
Yeah, all conservatives are alike just like all liberals or whatever one considers themselves to be. I am so ashamed, how can I go on...
Nickey,
I try as best I can to use some common sense when discussing politicians spouses. While something they say or do might be worthy of comment, what they own or wear is really irrelevant to me. I am not even really too sure how much relevance what they say or do has unless there is good cause to believe the spouse will act as co-president or have undue influence on the president. Of course I am not sure we can ever know that.
Funny how you mention something like that about Cindy McCain everyone says she's not running for office but yet EVERYTHING Michelle Obama says reflects on Barak. Not arguing or trying to start one just an observation is all.
She is not running for office. I'm not rich and I don't care if you have health insurance, do what I do and pay for it like everyone else or move to Canada.
gehagge, you think she can 'feel your pain'?????
I'm just saying, seems like a little over the top, sure its her money, you think she gives a damn if you have health insurance???
dexterite: It pays to have a rich daddy. There is nothing wrong with that. The daddy had to satisfy the marketplace to become rich. That means that he had to satisfy a lot of customers, a very worthy deed.
Just curious, but what the heck does the size of a person's bank account have to do with what kind of person one is? As to the "common man" what is so special about that. I prefer to elect the "uncommon" or extraordinary man or woman who has achieved more than the rest of us to elected office. I have never seen negativity accomplish a darned thing positive.
I am out, this is a monumental waste of time.

Doc wrote "Leave children alone: No...they don't "have" to grow up by themselves. Momma could stay at home, spend time with her Down's Syndrome child, teach sex-education to her children, and attend those hockey games. Yes, when you have children, somethings are more important than world domination."
Doc,
Are you sexist all the time or just when convenient? Are you married with children? If so does your wife work? If "world domination" is replaced with "career" does that statement apply to the high achieving mothers who were named to the top 40 under 40?
Grit---*****
Thank you that is the best I've seen in a long time.
Greywolf,
You can believe whatever you wish, the words about "poor judgment" were not mine, but rather those of the investigating committee. This site has become long on attacks and mudslinging and short on facts. Even when "facts" are presented they often come from some obscure website. If you look hard enough, you can find just about anything on the web to support your position no matter how delusional and I am not talking about you, but in general. "Opinion" is one thing, but BS presented as "fact" is another. I am surprised there is any tinfoil left in this area anymore.
CAN ANYONE please explain to me how you can be a Christian and still vote Democrat and condone abortion and gay marriages? I just need that question answered--- sure that one is easy - the same way in which a person who is a Republican worships material possessions, uses Gods name in vain, goes fishing or plays golf on Sunday, instead of going to church, does not get along with their parents, condones the death penalty and promotes or starts a war, has sex out of marriage, cheats someone or steals someones possessions, tells lies and spreads false rumors about someone (a favorite practice of the conservative talk radio) and desire your friend or neighbors material posessions, inclusive of their spouse. Voting Republican does not make you a Christian or sin free, so please stop casting stones at those people in your community who simply vote or view things different than yourself.
Dexterite,
She has probably done more to help her neighbor than you ever have. So what if the Good Lord is blessing her with some money to afford nice clothes and jewelry. If she has the money, why not use it?
WOW, I guess some SO's members will be joining Cindy McCain for lunch soon, her clothes etc cost over $310,00.00 last night,,, just some old rag she threw on I suppose. Now that's the common touch.
GREYWOLF: There is speculation on the Internet that Ron Paul's announcement will be the joining of the Constitution and Libertarian Parties in the presidential race. Both Chuck Baldwin and Bob Barr are to attend the press conference. I think that the joining of the two parties would be a good thing.
Sorry... but I will believe she is a supporter of Israel if and when I see a picture of the flag hanging in the office. Even then... I will still support her. I don't see why this is wrong. Pelosi takes vacations with known supporters of terrorism. Obama is going to try "talk" al Quada down from assaulting American again. Palin being a friend with a Israeli Jew means nothing to me.
Black-Shadow
Surely you don't believe that Mcain only used poor judgement! He was just as guilty as the rest of them!
Abuse of power is rampant among politicians and getting worse by the minute. If this is the best the Republican party has to offer as a Presidential candidate I feel sorry for them!Oh the Democrats have not done any better either!
In regards to the "Keating Five", after a Senate Ethics investigation, both John Glen and John McCain were found not to have acted improperly while Alan Cranston, Dennis DeConcini, and Donald Riegle had substantially and improperly interfered with the FHLBB in its investigation. McCain and Glen both exercised poor judgment, but were not found to have done anything improper. I am not a really big fan of John McCain, but sometimes people think if something is thrown out enough it becomes true. Overall pretty disappointed in the quality of SO the last few days, so I am just skimming and may have missed something, but maybe that's a good thing.
gehagge Palin, the Israeli booster
Palin has the flag in her office. It was there before he arrived. It was a gift from her friends who went to Isreal...
Palin is a member of a radical form of little "c" christians, who call themselves Zionists.
Here ya go... from a Jewish newspaper.
"Chabad envoy to Alaska: Palin staunch friend of Jews
By Shlomo Shamir, Haaretz Correspondent
Tags: Alaska, Jewish world
The Chabad envoy to Alaska on Thursday praised State Governor and recently nominated Republican candidate for Vice President Sarah Palin for her steadfast support for Israel.
"Based on my personal acquaintance with Governor Palin, I can confidently say that if she is elected, the Jewish people and the State of Israel will have a great friend and admirer in the White House," Rabbi Yosef Greenberg told Haaretz.
Greenberg has lived in Alaska for the past 17 years and he is coordinating Chabad activities in the state, where some 6,000 Jews live. He said that he meets the governor for friendly chats on a regular basis and that he has almost free access to her office.

Even in her previous role as the mayor of Wasilla, Greenberg continued, she maintained very good relations with the local Jewish community.
He said that when the Wasilla Conservative congregation inaugurated a new synagogue a few years ago, they were pleasantly surprised by her decision to attend the ceremony, even though she had not been invited.
She said at the event that she felt it was right to attend in order to express her satisfaction with the fact that people of the Jewish faith have a house of worship.
For Israel's 60th anniversary in May, Palin passed a resolution recognizing Alaska's relationship with Israel. "

Well ya'l, I have been very quite the last few weeks as most of the post have dealt with this election process and its candidates. Its all too boring for me.
These idiots running are at best a circus!
I did however watch Sarah's speech the other night
and thought she sounded like a high school prom queen
accepting her crown! She was also a bit sarcastic as well.Frankly she is still being investigated for abuse of power in Alaska and I just can't forget that Keating
five fiasco from some years back when it comes to Mcain! That of course was another example of abuse of power.Ya'l continue to back your Demopublicans but I will have to give Bob Barr my attention!I get a kick out of all here who think any Presidential candidate
will change Washington and its law makers.Like I said earlier, corporations and the military industrial complex is in control and none of you can change that!
Rick.Scaggs
What do you expect? The dude's posting then agreeing with himself AS someone else. Just a sad and lonely man seeking attention.
Either that or kindergarten let out early today :-)
Major announcement' by Ron Paul
We can't know for sure what it's about, but Bob Barr and Chuck Baldwin both say they'll be at the important Ron Paul press conference at the National Press Club in DC on September 10th at 10:30am, to discuss the election. Anyone else?
Heck, I may have a reason to vote after all.
Since when do we believe an Israeli over a U.S. governor? Perhaps she wore the pin/hung the flag as a sign of respect towards her guest. It is kind of like putting up that ugly picture your mother-in-law gave you when she happens to be in your house.
ISRAELI FILM MAKER SAYS THAT SARAH PALIN...."IS ONE OF US."
"I have a lot of authentic footage that shows who she really is. You can tell a lot about her from that. She really is one of us."

NO NEED FOR PALIN TO GO TO ISRAEL TO SHOW SUPPORT, THEY COME TO HER...
Israeli film maker comments on the fact that Palin has an Israeli flag on her Governor's office wall.
http://www.ynetnews.com/...
Palin's flag pin she wears. Not an American flag, not an Alaskan flag, but an Israeli flag.
http://www.israelnationalnews.com/...
Now, I have seen her wearing an Israeli flag pin. I beleive that when that hit the net late this week, that she changed it for at least Thursday to a Service Star pin, that resembles the service flag that some people hang in the window when they have a family member in service (combat zone).
America is our country, not Israel, not Germany, not France, Italy, nor, any country in Africa. This is America, Sarah P. Get with the program.
JUST SAY NO TO ZIONISM
Aggie: You gave two very good reasons for not voting governors in as presidents, Clinton and Bush. I think that Palin will make a very good vice-president if she is able to keep the interests of the United States above the interests of all other countries. As far as I know she didn't go to Israeli lobbyists seeking approval.
Aggie
The reason I want to know about her is because up until she was announced for VP I like many others had NEVER HEARD OF HER. If she did so much for the great state of Alaska wouldn't that have been news worthy for us down here in the lower 48? Just a question and observation. Also there is a friend of my sister's that is coming in from Alaska on Monday and I get to go and pick her up at the airport in STL so I will see what she knows about the woman since she does live there and all.
Let me get this straight, There are those "NICKEY", who are worried about Palin's background? Experience? You dont think she is qualified to be VP because of lack of experience in the federal sector?
Hum????
Wasn't Clinton a Gov? 8 yrs president
Wasn't Bush a Gov? 8 yrs president
And you are worried about a gov becoming a VP? Or is it she is a woman?
She has just as much experience presiding over a state than any other candidate. Obama is just a fading rock star.
If I dont vote for Hussein Obama, you will call me a racist. Which I'm not. If you don't vote for Palin then you a sexist. Are you?
So lets get the facts straight, and not falsly state a person reputation.IMO its even across the board.
Sorry I can't make lunch today. It would be hard to justify driving 800 miles in the co. truck. Twiggy will be there.
Aggie

"The Sun is part of the American Media Inc. tabloid chain, and it employed photo editor Bob Stevens, who died this month from inhalation anthrax. Two other AMI employees were exposed, and five more are being retested to confirm positive blood test results. "

"White House Mail Machine Has Anthrax "
By Sandra Sobieraj
Associated Press Writer
Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2001; 8:11 p.m. EDT
"WASHINGTON –– President Bush said confidently Tuesday that "I don't have anthrax" after biohazard testing at the White House and the discovery of anthrax on a mail-opening machine at a screening facility six miles away.
All White House mail – more than 40,000 letters a week – is examined at military facilities across the Potomac River.
"Let me put it this way," Bush said. "I'm confident that when I come to work tomorrow, I'll be safe."
Asked if he was tested for the germ that has killed three people already this month, or if he was taking precautionary antibiotics, Bush replied simply: "I don't have anthrax."
At least some White House personnel were given Cipro six weeks ago. White House officials won't discuss who might be receiving the anthrax-treating antibiotic now.
On the night of the Sept. 11 attacks, the White House Medical Office dispensed Cipro to staff accompanying Vice President Dick Cheney as he was secreted off to the safety of Camp David, and told them it was "a precaution," according to one person directly involved.
At that time, nobody could guess the dimensions of the terrorists' plot. "
http://www.washingtonpost.com/...
Yeah, once they released the Anthrax, they wanted to be sure that if by chance they came in contact with it, they would be safe. Notice how bush says very forcefully, that he doesn't have anthrax. No he didn't have anthrax, because they all CIPRO-upped before they released it to further their "terrorists" charade of 9/11. RG
