Feet on the ground in ChaffeeThursday, September 4, 2008
p.s. sorry about all the typos, folks. Different kind of work, blogging live :) Boil-water order lifted. Compliance inspection scheduled for next week -- which covers water plan operations, records and operations evaluation. 2:34 p.m. Mike Wyatt and Shannon Hendrix just arrived at city hall. They're wating to hear from Wyatt's boss, Jack Baker . Seems the three tests for chlorine have yielded slightly mixed results. Chlorine levels at city call and a spot on Tannymae were "abundant" but at the auto parts store on Main Street, the figure was 0.1 milligrams per liter (also referred to as parts per million), far below the acceptable range of 0.2 to 4.0. But....at a nearby fire hydrant chlorine levels were over 4.0. Wyatt and Hendrix said the only water use in the auto parts store is a toilet -- in other words, not the same kind of circulation that you might find in a busy high school. 2:20 p.m. Well, DNR water quality specialist Mike Wyatt is here in Chaffee -- out with public works employee Shannon Hendrix, testing water for chlorine -- and I am at city hall, waiting to hear if the order is lifted. Yesterday's tests for bacteria came back clear, now the city needs one more good "BAC-T" test. Also, for those of you who didn't see the boil-water poll I posted last night, here is a link:
