Two-vehicle accident sends two to Cape Girardeau hospitalWednesday, September 3, 2008
CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, Mo. - A Marble Hill, Mo., woman and Burfordville, Mo., man were injured Tuesday at 3 p.m. in a two-car accident on Highway 34, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol crash reports Web site. The accident occurred as the 1979 Ford driven by Leon L. Aufdenberg, 70, of Burfordville failed to yield to a 1993 Ford making a left turn driven by Ezekiel N. Brooks, 18, of Whitewater, Mo. Aufdenberg then locked up his brakes, causing the vehicle to travel into the oncoming lane, striking Brooks' truck. After impact, Brooks' vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a dirt enbankment. The 1979 Ford sustained minor damage while the 1993 Ford suffered extensive damage. While Brooks was not injured, Aufdenberg was treated for minor injuries and Stovall was treated for moderate injuries at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. Citations are pending.
