It's official....

Tuesday, September 2, 2008

It's official, Mayor Knudtson proclaims October 3rd of each year "Science Day" in Cape Girardeau. I accepted the proclamation at the city council meeting at 7 p.m. Here's what the proclamation says...

Whereas, Science is a vital part of a child's education in Cape Girardeau and is very important to the future and economic development of our city; and

Whereas, the children of Cape Girardeau deserve the best science education possible and Cape Girardeau is dedicated to improving the quality of a science education; and

Whereas, a first rate science education is necessary for Cape Girardeau's children to compete and succeed in the local and global marketplace; and

Whereas, parents, guardians, grandparents and other community members are encouraged to do a simple science experiment with children, to honor science teachers in their community, and to recognize the importance of science in the classroom and community and how it plays an important role in their child's future.

Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved that I, Jay B. Knudtson, Mayor of the City of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, on behalf of the City Council, do hereby proclaim October 3rd of each year as "Science Day."

In Witness Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and caused to be affixed the Seal of the City of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, this 2nd day of Sept. A.D, 2008.
