FTC adds hurdle for robocalls

Wednesday, August 20, 2008

The Federal Trade Commission has added limits to how telemarketing companies use automated calls, sometimes called robocalls.

The FTC basically banned 'em. Before you get too excited, the new rule applies only to calls for goods and services, not political campiaigns.

This is nice - but would be much nicer if they
had a "Do Not Call" list for the political calls
as well. It's kinda like the pot calling the
kettle black.

Then you get Caller ID to screen the stupid things
& half the time they don't come up.
