Breaking news - my first gray hair

Monday, August 18, 2008

On my way home from the Fruitland church I attend each Sunday, my wife informed me that I had my first noticable gray hair. I've heard from folks that my new shade of hair is another step in the aging process. Could it be that my over-involvement in watching the Cubs and University of Nebraska sporting events is finally catching up to me? Or could it be my recent 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. shift change is getting the best of this 29-year-old? Or maybe I'm just rambling on too much about something that isn't worth writing anymore about.

Nonetheless, I did a quick search on the Internet and found surveys that support and debunk theories that gray hair makes a man more powerful and attractive. One survey I ran across was that 90 percent of women find gray men sexy. Another revealed that men with gray hair are likely to make $10,000 less than men without gray hair. Basically, you can find any survey to support what you want, but instead of wasting more time on this subject, I'll let you all chime in with your two cents.

Bald vs. Grey

Hmmm. Doesn't seem like it pays to be a Cubs fan.

Just wait, Brian. Mr. Cubbytodd has a few years on you. Bet you will have shaved your head to match all the other CubFans by then...

Plus your hair is pretty thin as it is.

Just messing - we all share the same troubles.

I'm going gray fast. In fact, currently I'm as gray as the sky in Beijing. I know what has done it too - a wife, two kids and a job in Southern California. However, I wear my gray like a badge of honor; I've earned it.

kellycallow,
Thankfully, it hasn't gotten that bad yet. I think I'm a few years away from the inevitable! But my wife noticed another gray hair yesterday. I'm just thankful my hair doesn't look like American Idol winner Taylor Hicks.

Brian- you need to schedule an enhancement for that little hair in particular with us at bella salon. I have a blog also on the missourian, detailing said business and the day to day functions. I could document the "procedure" on our blogs! You notice I said "enhancement". We wouldn't want to change the direction your hair is going, just blend some hairs gone awry until further notice! You'd be surprised how many men enjoy their "treatments" with us. Most of their family and friends are none the wiser!!!

No personal experience here. But in my line of business you see some real winners from time to time.

You speak like someone with experience with mullets & comb-overs...

Comb-Over Land is a terrible place to be. But then again, at least they found something to do with their mullets.

There are lots of guys who would be thankful for a head of grey hair so that they can live somewhere other than Combover-Land. (Not that I have that problem.)

It's the Cubs. I've been a lifelong Cubs fan and 3 yrs ago I decided to shave my head instead of watching all the greys pop up. I think the 2003 championship series with the Marlins did it for me. After that devastating loss, it was free reign on the top of my head for the greys to take over.

Brian, if you really wanna look sexy and powerful go for the bald look. Women dig a bald man much more than one with grey hair. Add the goatee and some shades and you're in business. You'll have Bob's job before you know it!!!!!

It's not the Cubs or the Cornhuskers - it is us, your readers...
