What will happen to K's?

Saturday, August 16, 2008

I know a lot of talk around town has involved the activity at the former K's Merchandise building. Since earlier this month demolition began in preparation for the move of a new tenant into the property. Out of respect for the company moving in, details of their plans will not be divulged until final plans have been made. Look for an article on this in the next couple of weeks. I'll keep you in the loop if anything happens before then.

Many times it is cheaper and easier to demolish and start fresh rather than try to modify and retrofit. Besides, it would feel weird to have your heart cath done in the old sporting goods dept.

Why is it silly to demolish a building? Maybe they wanted a smaller, or even bigger building there? Maybe it will two stories? Maybe it will have a basement? Maybe they just wanted the property so that they could put in a big patch of grass, with a huge sign that reads "STAY OFF THE GRASS"

Seems silly to me to purchase a building and then turn around and demolish it. Did the buyers want a corner lot?

No, their plans haven't changed. They're not trying to be secretive. Plans have not been finalized yet, but should be in the next few weeks. I am planning to write an article about their plans when they are finalized.

There wasn an article a while back that said that
Cardivascular Consultants were moving into that building. Has that changed or are they trying to be secret now???
