First day of schoolThursday, August 14, 2008
I remember my first day of teaching. I was probably more nervous than the kids. But this year, I couldn't wait for school to be back in session (sorry kids, but an education reporter's gotta make a livin'). I'll have a story in Friday's paper about highlights of the first day throughout the district. Until then, I'd love to hear your stories. District administrators have painted a rosy view of the first day. "It was awesome, one of the best first days I could remember in a long time. Everyone was happy to be back," said assistant superintendent Pat Fanger. I heard similar accounts from building principals. Fanger particularly stressed how upbeat and happy staff, parents, and students were at Jefferson Elementary, a school that is keeping its chin high after recent struggles. Parents and students: How was your day? Did everything run smoothly? Respond to this story You are not logged in. Please login or create an account.
