CALEA on the High Seas..um RiversTuesday, August 12, 2008
The Missouri State Water Patrol announced last week they will be undergoing CALEA assessment, the law enforcement accredidation process known to the gold standard in establishing coherent, uniform policies and procedures within departments. Our own Jackson Police Department recently obtained their CALEA status, a process which took a year-and-half to accomplish. To become accredited, the department pretty much undergoes a revamping of almost every written police they have, and must draft policies that may not even have been written. Congrats to the Water Patrol. Their participation in last week's boating tragedy was greatly appreciated. To see a list of other CALEA agencies in Missouri, click here.
