Today's Police BlotterWednesday, August 6, 2008
Some call it a media log, some a blotter. the police usually use the term summary. At any rate, sometimes it comes up dry, full of accidents and gas station drive offs, but every now and then there's something out of the ordinary. From today's Cape police log: 1. The post office finds a revolver in one of their PO boxes, Sgt. Barry Hovis, spokesman for the police department, said. Police are investigating and will trace the gun to see if maybe it was stolen. 2. Budget Inn, of 1448 N. Kingshighway, reported a theft of services. And a comforter. Here's what happened. A man requested the room and spent the night, but left in a rush, saying he would return to pay his bill, according to Cpl. Jason Selzer, of the Cape Girardeau police department. He never did. The comforter went with him, apparently, Selzer said. It costs $38.85 a night to stay at the Budget Inn, and the comforter was worth about 65, according to the police report. 3. A stolen golf cart may be roaming around Cape Girardeau, if anyone happens to be looking for one. An abandoned golf cart emblazoned with a Kimberland Golf course sticker was discovered at the intersection of Middle St. and Washington yesterday. When the reporting party left her house that morning, there were no golf carts lurking nearby, she told police, Selzer said. When she returned later that morning, there it was. She drove the cart to her residence and notified police of its whereabout. an officer responded and drove the cart to the station on Sprigg St. Kimberland Golf Course said the cart used to be theirs, but they sold it several years ago. Another golf course recently reported a stolen golf cart of a similar nature to the Jackson police. It is not yet known if its the same cart found in Cape, but if it is, I can't imagine anyone driving it that far. Golf carts just aren't good for speedy getaways. As always, anyone with information about any of these incidents is urged to call Crimestoppers at 332-0500.

It was a .44 magnum they found. I saw it. that thing was a CANNON!
You are right, pretty good considering all the cars in one apartment building except one got their windows busted out! I heard they caught the kids, a couple of 15 yr olds!! If it were in the city, they would probably still be out running around destroying other peoples property!!
Bridget's hot.
Looks like KFVS12 caught on, they're out in the subdivision as I type this. They are on Alpine, I think at 202 Alpine, that's where the motorcycles were stolen. Looks like maybe they found one. I'll have to watch the 6 or 10 o'clock news.
Never did see anything about all the thefts out at Hillcrest Subdivision on Route K. It's the neighborhood just outside the city limits behind the only gas station on K.
By the time a deputy got out to my house, there were about 6 other calls about break-ins to peoples cars. Besides the CD's and radio's that were taken, there was also two motorcycles/dirtbikes taken from a house. I also heard that a Tahoe was taken from a house on Hillvale. The deputy was going over to a house on Hillvale to talk to a person that saw the people and actually chased them in their car, but eventually lost their vehicle. Later on in the day there was a purse stolen out of a vehicle while in their driveway, in broad daylight.
Surprised the Sherrif's department didn't put out anything on this. Or should I not be surprised? Sure hope they catch them, they also keyed our Trailblazer the length of the car.
