i think i'll take the crew lemonade

Tuesday, July 29, 2008

After reading the article about the Independence Street widening project, I felt a response coming on. We are four buildings up from the intersection where the construction starts. A few clients have commented that they had to detour to get to the salon. I did too, yesterday. Instead of shooting all the way down Independence, I had to turn and come up behind Trinity Lutheran School, which sits directly across from us on Pacific. Really- not a problem. I can understand the frustration of the businesses on Independence who have restricted access to their storefronts, but I feel the downtown has so many alleyways that there would always be a way for customers to still patronize most businesses.

I believe this project will help clean up the route to get to our salon. I think it will be four lane to Pacific Street. How great is that?!?! We will be able to direct new clients more easily by using that reference point. I am really looking forward to the much needed road improvement, the taking out of some businesses' junk in their front lots, the general cleanup of said businesses, and the overall revitalization. If there is really nothing anyone can do about changing this project anyway, why don't we all be positive and look forward to the end result. Better road, better looking area, more commerce...yea!!!
