Cape made another true crime blog!Thursday, July 24, 2008
Today, i'm blogging about another crime blog, women in crime, inc. Cape was mentioned in an entry on that blog, because of a comment made by Lt. David James of the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Department. The comment referred to Tommy Lynn Sells, serail killer who's confessed to dozens of murder. A former deputy who worked at the sheriff's office years ago actually called to inquire if Sells had been looked at a suspect in an unsolved homcide that fell into the cracks over the years. Here's our story. Sells is not a suspect, however, James said. For crime history fans, this isn't the first time a serial killer of some renown has been linked with a local case. Henry Lee Lucas, serial killer who claimed to have killed hundreds of women, was interviewed in the 1980's by area investigators. Lucas was questioned about a possible involvement in the still unsolved disappearence of Cheryl Ann Scherer in 1983, from Scott County, according to police reports. He told investigators it seemed like something he might do, and described abducting a girl, but the details did not add up. He has been elminated as a suspect in that case.
