On cigarettes and camerasFriday, July 18, 2008
Ok, so when we're in store and looking around, on some level we know our actions are being recorded. But how often do emloyees actually review the footage from their surveillance photos? Only when something really big like an armed robbery, happens, right? Apparently Phillips 66 in Perry County has discovered that actually watching the security tapes can help them combat petty crime. The gas station and convenience store, at 12451 Highway 51, near the Chester bridge, used the security camera to catch two people believed to be shoplifting cigarettes, according to Perry County Sheriff Gary Schaaf. Christopher L. Dalls, 28, of Perryville, now faces one count of misdemeanor theft, and Beverly J. Woods , 58, of Chester, Ill., was charged with five counts of the same offense.
