The mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, center, holds the birth certificates of one of Angelina Jolie's twins, Knox Leon Jolie-Pitt, as he and Dr. Michel Sussmann, Jolie's obstetrician, left, pose for the media, at the Lenval Hospital in Nice, southern France, Sunday, July 13, 2008. U.S. actress Angelina Jolie has given birth to her twins, one boy Knox Leon and a girl Vivienne Marcheline. The obstetrician who delivered the twins, Dr. Michel Sussmann, told The Associated Press that the actress, the babies and Jolie's partner, actor Brad Pitt, "are doing marvelously well." If you had July 12 in the baby pool, congratulations: You're a winner!

Congratulations also go to Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, who are now the proud parents of twins. One boy, Knox Léon, and one girl, Vivienne Marcheline. Both babies, who weighed in at 5 pounds each, and the mommy are healthy and happy, according to reports from numerous outlets including the Associated Press and E! Online. Angelina's doc said they'll stay in the hospital for a few days to recover but that everything is just fine.

As for the names, I (Heather) like them. Having a common name myself (in many classes and workplaces there have been multiple Heathers), I like names that are unusual but not totally out of leftfield (Apple? Moxie CrimeFighter? Pilot Inspektor?). Knox is a family name on Brad's side and Marcheline comes from Angie's mom. Vivienne, which I love, and Léon add a French flair. Only appropriate considering the kids were born in Nice, France, and will be able to claim French citizenship if they choose.

So now that we know the babies are here and kicking, the next question: When will see the first photos? Perhaps the biggest question: How much will it cost? According the AP, the Nice Matin, the daily paper in Nice, reported the twins' worth at $11 million. That's much below the $15 million that has been tossed around, but still a nice chunk of change. The paper also said the couple had sold the rights to a U.S. publication (my bet's on People, where Shiloh Jolie-Pitt made her debut) and the proceeds would go to charity. (Again no surprise; they did the same for Shiloh.) Stay tuned...

Working in a newsroom, we get our fill each week of politics, economics and the fickle Southeast Missouri weather. Reading the paper for eight hours a night can be draining, so in our downtime we spend countless hours (countless, of course, because wešve never bothered to count them) indulging our guilty pleasures: reading about Britney Spears (sorry, we just can't leave her alone!), surfing Internet gossip sites (apparently Amy Winehouse is going to launch her own line of beauty products -- no joke), watching reality TV (why are none of the Real Housewives actual housewives?) and keeping up with our favorite pop-culture trends (gotta love those celebrity couple nicknames). Now we're sharing our love of celebrity scandal and gossip with you.
