Perry County schools' tax rate declines

Perry County School Board members voted unanimously Wednesday night to set the tax levy at $3.1751 per $100 valuation, down slightly from last year's rate of $3.1882. The rate decreased because assessed valuation increased. Superintendent Scott Ireland said valuations were $280 million for last school year and $288 million this year. The budget held steady at $22 million, as it has the past few years, Ireland said. Perry County has about 2,300 students, he said...
