LETTERS: TIME TO ELIMINATE INCOME TAXES
(Letter to the Editor ~ 02/26/99)
To the editor: I was just listening to a news program where they were discussing how wonderful it would be if Mrs. Clinton ran for U.S. senator from New York. Undoubtedly she could continue or expand on her socialistic endeavors to make every American safe and happy by stealing money from wage earners and using it to expand government bureaucracy. Before I totally give up and sign up for every government program available, I would like to discuss taxes again...

SPEAKOUT
(Speak Out ~ 02/26/99)
I'D LIKE to comment about the good economy we're enjoying now. Many people think this is Clinton's economy. Name one thing that Clinton has done to help the economy. He agreed to a balanced budget, but after that he vetoed four of them, and the Republicans finally forced him to pass the balanced budget. ...

ROAD FUNDING PLAN IS PRETTY MUCH BUNK
(Editorial ~ 02/26/99)
How to pay for good highways in Missouri? No one seems to know. No one seems to want to do the hard work required to develop credible figures. No one seems to be interested in putting together a list of top-priority projects and then looking for ways to fund those projects. No one appears to be using a lick of common sense as highway officials, legislators and special-interest groups talk, talk, talk with little to show for their efforts...

SCHOOLS: RACIAL DIVERSITY A MUST
(Local News ~ 02/26/99)
Including cultural diversity as a factor in redrawing attendance area boundaries could protect Cape Girardeau School District from court-mandated bussing.
