(Editorial ~ 12/20/90)

Naivete is not a characteristic treated gingerly in the nation's capital, but Williams survived his bout with "legal correctness" with little more than embarrassment. And in the end, a reasonable policy was established...

(Editorial ~ 12/20/90)
Have our nation's colleges become hotbeds of liberal teaching where vocal radicals hold cowering administrators at bay, or are they still places where students can easily accept or reject ideas in their quest for knowledge? Recently, several national columnists have focused on this issue, and they responded overwhelmingly that universities are not a place where scholars go to seek the truth, but where leftist teachers and administrators force the "correct truth" upon the students...

I HEARD OUR politicians just got a large raise, or it was just implemented very recently? Please print if this is so, and if they did, when was it passed, who was it passed by, how much is it, to whom, and when do they start getting it? Also, there has been a lot of earthquake activity around the world since Dec. ...

I TALKED WITH a gasoline wholesaler Dec. 17. The wholesale price of regular no lead on the date mentioned was .92 to .93 cents per gallon. Retail pump price for regular no lead in Cape Girardeau and Jackson on this same date was approximately $1.16 per gallon. It would seem there is approximately a 23-cent-per-gallon difference between the wholesale costs to the retailer and the retailer's price to the consumer. Now, my question is, who is the culprit? Thank you...

I'D LIKE FOR somebody to tell me what kind of person would call people on the telephone and talk filthy to them. I don't know what kind of people these are. They must be cowards. If they were any kind of people at all they ought to give their name to the people if they're mad at them. Why would they want to call them and talk such filth and then hang up? What kind of people are these people? Thank you...

I think this deal with Martin Luther King, Jr. is blown out of proportion. Thank you...

I NOTED IN the Sunday morning paper that many people called Speak Out about Browning and Stewart, and as usual the people at the Southeast Missourian had a lot of smart cracks to make back at them. Here a while back, two or three weeks ago, the Southeast Missourian had an editorial about Dr. ...
