Speak Out: Roe v. Wade at 40 years

ABORTION

Myth: The Hyde amendment does not apply to the new law, which means that taxpayer money could be used to pay for abortions.

AFA Fact: The Hyde amendment prohibiting the use of federal funds for abortion applies to the law. In addition, the executive order signed by President Obama and the colloquy on the House floor make it absolutely clear that the Hyde amendment applies and taxpayer money will not be used to pay for abortions.

(Section 1303, Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2009, P.L. 111-148; Executive Order -- Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act's Consistency with Longstanding Restrictions on the Use of Federal Funds for Abortion, signed March 24, 2010).

So finally you can rest easy and stop your ranting and raving. Your money is still safe.

    "I have opinions --"

And right or wrong, you're welcome to them. In this case you are mistaken again.

  • Common - wrong again on this abortion thing. From Congressman Chris Smith:

"At its core the Hyde amendment has TWO parts. It prohibits funding for abortion AND funding for insurance plans that include abortion. This is the fundamental reality of longstanding federal law: taxpayer dollars DO NOT subsidize abortion plans that include elective abortion.

Now, under Obamacare, taxpayers subsidies in the form of refundable, advanceable credits paid directly to the insurance company will subsidize insurance plans offered on the exchange that include abortion on demand--even late term abortion. Obamacare further breaks with longstanding law by establishing a new abortion surcharge and secrecy clause.

Bottom line, the Executive Order and new rule implements the same accounting gimmick, abortion surcharge and secrecy clause that was in the original text of the bill."

The Hyde Amendment has now been violated by Obamacare.

So now you are smarter than congressman that read and write the laws? You didn't even address the TWO parts of the Hyde amendment. Obama has, once again, violated a federal law. Not surprised.
