  • Theorist. That thread was started by Lumpy. None of Lumpy's posts are here. It looks like the Missourian dropped the Navy Seals into Lumpy's "mansion" compound.

I've talked to the Missourian and they have changed their story over and over. Maybe one of Lumpy's captured wives can tell us what happened. :)

Now that is funny, and with all due respects to Lumpy, through no fault of his own, it had kind of turned into a zoo.

I don't know Wheels. In Lump's case I could make an exception. (He did once break the unwritten code of the Leopold Picnic. What happens at the Picnic - Stays at the Picnic) It would have served him right.

  • Info,

Anyone breaking that code deserves whatever he gets.

Wait a minute, let me think about that, he did buy me a beer last year at the picnic, so I shouldn't be too hard on him, but then again he was campaigning for office, but on the other hand I couldn't vote for because I don't live in his district.

I'm so confused.... I think I better take that under advisement.

    Thursday, May 12, 2011 ~ Updated 1:30 PM

    seMissourian.com

Telephone service at the Southeast Missourian was restored at 1:15 p.m. following a morning interruption. We apologize for any inconvenience the outage caused.

Hmmm Wheels. Lumpy was pretty skilled with the wire cutters. Is it possible that Lumpy had a body double at the compound and it was the double and not Lumpy who is swimming with the catfish?

Lumpy might be on the run. It could take 10 years till the Missourian finds him in one of those Bollinger County caves. :)

  • There, you can see one of the reasons I don't like to belittle other posters. If you make a mistake, such as referring to Larry, Darryl, and Darryl as Darrel, Darrel, and Darrel, you come across looking pretty bad...

The other reason is simply that my Momma didn't raise me that way.

-- Posted by Shapley Hunter on Thu, May 12, 2011, at 4:58 PM
  • Shapley Hunter, Interesting that you suggest cha cha's comment was belittling, but recently labeled fxpwt's name calling comment, "cutesy names"? I've witnessed a good ole boy, double standard and ganging up on several new posters. Few regulars are interested in an intelligent discussion, sad to see you go to the dark side.

If you think for a minute that the two "new" posters who showed up today are truly "new", you might want to read their posts a couple of times and pick up on the clues they leave behind. The two posters I refer to, nigol, and got cha are just reconstituted "old" posters. And who really cares anyway?

  • Theorist,

I know it must be the paper's fault... there is not even the slightest possibility you did anything wrong.

And yes, I did read your post, and I do know what you said. It's just that finances and responsibility do not fit in the same sentence when you are trying to describe a democrat. That is the part I found hilareous.

Not that I believe the modern republicans are much more financially responsible, but you used some other joke to describe them.

My other question was... repeated from above and ignored. "What is your problem with me pointing it out? Are you one of them?" You know in reference to the posters popping up with multiple personas.

    -- Posted by Have_Wheels_Will_Travel on Fri, May 13, 2011, at 1:22 PM

  • Not that it matters to anyone, but I've changed my name from Infowarrior to Thought Criminal.

In the not too distant future, all of us who still are able to 'think," whether it be pro or anti government intrusion in to our lives, will be called Thought Criminals. The Police State doesn't want the people to praise it or make excuses for it, they want the people to obey it.

  • Regret, we have some differences of opinion on past and current events, but that's o.k. because it reinforces the fact the government hasn't turned us all in to a bunch of automatons yet.

I am pretty far out in some of my beliefs and theories compared to conventional thought, but I think you and I are seeing more things the same. I sense a lot of us in this world are seeing more things the same.

Too many people seeing too many things the same way, makes a paranoid too powerful government more devious and controlling. We are entering an even more perilous time such as this country has ever seen.

-- Posted by Thought Criminal on Fri, May 13, 2011, at 11:16 PM
  • Hey Thought Criminal, don't stop the world, I don't want to get off. Just want to hang around long enough to see how all this nonsense turns out.

By the way, Youtube has some great videos of the Olympic peninsula and also Romania. Real eye openers!

  • "Too many people seeing too many things the same way, makes a paranoid too powerful government more devious and controlling. We are entering an even more perilous time such as this country has ever seen."

I am sure that you are aware that the very fact that you can expound on the evils of government intrusion into all of our lives, everywhere, is ample proof that "thought criminals" and government "intrusion" by a "police state" do not exist and are a figment of someone's vivid imagination.

But then again, it may be true that President Obama is building a super Gulag in Manitoba, north of Flin Flon, with the full knowledge and cooperation of the Canadian government, to incarcerate thought criminals for purposes of rendition and torture. Maybe we're still here because the Missouri wing of the gulag is not complete yet.

  • Common Sense. Could you ever have imagined 10 years ago that innocent people would soon be put on a no fly list and not know why they were put there, and who put them there? And to make it even worse, the innocent people have to "prove" why they should not be on there. Kafkaesque like, no?

Sen. Chuck Schummer, even after hearing Obama tell us the world is a safer place now that OBL is dead, proposes a no train list the next day. Where does it stop Common or do you even want it to stop? A no Greyhound list, a no car list, skateboard list, horse and buggy list for the Amish, or even a no walking list?

Some people love the idea of checkpoints on the roads now, because checkpoints have been sold as being "only" for drunk drivers and insurance. Wonder how those same drivers will react when they appear on a no driving list? Think it won't happen? Your papers please?

Governments usually don't clamp down on the people with a heavy hand all at once. They do it in small increments. Sort of like the how to boil a frog analogy. They take a little freedom here and a little freedom there and pretty soon we have none left.

How do they get away with this? Because there are too many people like you Common, who seem to have blind faith and trust in the government. Especially when their guy in in the White House.

And when people like I try to give warnings of the incremental loss of freedom, there are always people like you who want to ridicule and convince others that it's not so. And that's your right to do so. But aren't you a teacher? Haven't you read how other great nations in history made virtual slaves of their people by telling them it was for the people's safety?

-- Posted by Thought Criminal on Sat, May 14, 2011, at 10:21 AM
  • There are several fallacies in your arguments. First of all when you extend analogies to "horse and buggy list for the Amish, or even a no walking list," you discourage most people from giving serious consideration to what you predict.

Your claim that "innocent people would soon be put on a no fly list and not know why they were put there" is also simplistic. They were put there because they had the same name or a very similar name to someone else that had given cause to have been on the list.

I am not sure why you would characterize me as one "who seem to have blind faith and trust in the government. Especially when their guy (is) in the White House." Accepting why certain things were done by the current administration does not equate to "blind faith." There are areas in which I disagree with the President: I don't agree with his position on 'don't ask, don't tell" and I feel that same sex marriage is a just plain ridiculous concept, I think he could be winding down our commitment to Afghanistan earlier, he could have worked harder to implement a more bi-partisan outcome on health care reform, and I would prefer that he let Republicans in the House take full and total responsibility for any government shut-down and the consequences of defaulting by not unconditionally raising the debt ceiling.

When you ask, "Think it won't happen? Your papers please?" you leave it at that, without objecting to long time registered voters having to show not only their papers, but ones with a government issued picture on it. You also ignore intrusion when some groups want the government to force any and all pregnant women to bear children, regardless of the circumstances.

"Haven't you read how other great nations in history made virtual slaves of their people by telling them it was for the people's safety?" I am not certain what other great nations made slaves of their people, and would claim that if they did make slaves of their people, they were not "great nations." I do know that there are tremendous differences in circumstances that changed over time and had distinct effects on what nations did at other times in history.

Trying to compare historical "great nations" to our country today is irrational and groundless. For example, were you to consider the USSR a "great nation" (which I do not), there is no valid relationship nor similarity between how Russians were treated and how Americans live today. The rumors of nationalized health care, creeping socialism, the collapse or demise of free markets are exactly that, rumor with no basis in fact. If one examines our current situation realistically and without prejudice, you would have fewer fearful suspicions and unreasonable worries

I will continue to try to give examples of an ever increasing police state intrusion on our freedom and you will continue to try and debunk me. That's o.k. It makes me try harder.
