  • I agree.

  • "House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., said Tuesday that "everyone would like for the Rangle issue to go away" and that the ethics process with Rangel is not a pleasant one."

Well not everyone I would be willing to bet.

Rangel needs to be given his day in court so to speak and let the chips fall where they may. But....if there is to be any deal made, then he has to agree to resign his seat in the House of Representatives. That would be my opinion.

  • This is Washington DC politics.

Of course and unethical deal will be struck. That's how congress works.

  • Rangel is proof the people of the 15 district in New York are not very intelligent voters!..I hope they come to their senses some day.

  • I think they are all unethical. Who gives a rat's @@@. Solve our problems. I could care less about any of those jerks in congress. Either lead, follow or get out of the way.

  • Get out of the way sounds like the best option to me, Howdy. But would they have the grace to do it?

  • After reading an AP article last week I am under the impression that the deal making time has expired and Rep. Rangle will have to face the charges.

  • No matter how crooked Charlie is, he has been blessed in that he is a fellow hard to be disliked.

How many times have we known someone that has done us wrong but for some reason we tolerate?

I think he will get one of those easy outs we soon forget.

  • Old John,

You think they will let him cut a deal to get his chairmanship back also?

    -- Posted by Have_Wheels_Will_Travel on Wed, Jul 28, 2010, at 1:46 AM
  • Looks like Rangel is buttered toast.

  • Voyager,

Do you mean he's good and tasty and goes great with eggs? Hahaha.

  • Fox guarding the hen house folks. He'll get a slap on the wrist and go on to get richer.

  • Non-biased, ya neglected to mention the ham!

  • So what are they going to do to him, slap his naughty little hands with a plastic ruler and say "Now, Now, play nice"?

A statement of suspicion is not a prediction. I don't predict politics, too many variables.

  • It should be fairly obvious by now... if you are high enough in party politics you need not pay your taxes.

Tim Geithner screwed the government on his tax returns and now controls the IRS so he can keep the rest of us honest.

Why did it take this long to get Charlie his day in court so to speak?

    -- Posted by Have_Wheels_Will_Travel on Fri, Jul 30, 2010, at 10:38 AM
  • Charlie is the poster boy for term limits.

  • Looks like the dems as usual are ready to throw the first scape goat they find under the bus, to say.

As that unfolds, the cry of racism will be magnified. Sharpton can't wait to stir it up. He will claim the ethics committee is spiked with racists that make up a conspiracy. Hence it is all a product of repubican dirty tricks inc. designed to make trouble at election time.

  • Oh boy.... Maxine Waters gets to join him. This is going to be fun.

  • The things are like a lot of others, they come in threes. Who will be next, maybe Barney?

It's about time for another well known repub to get caught at someting too.

Now there's a thought, crooked politions in an equal bi-partisan setting.

-- Posted by Old John on Mon, Aug 2, 2010, at 9:15 PM
  • Barney should be there after he did favors for his boyfriend that worked at Fannie May.

The bad thing about Rangel is he help write the laws he broke. Look at what they do to bad cops. He should get the same.

  • Now Kerry had it there for tax...er I mean maintenance reasons.

-- Posted by We Regret To Inform U on Mon, Aug 2, 2010, at 10:54 PM
  • Does anyone take Sharpton seriously anymore. About the only ones who do are some of the media honchos.

-- Posted by voyager on Mon, Aug 2, 2010, at 11:06 PM
  • Regarding Sen. Kerry's yacht: has anyone noticed a pattern of tax avoidance by Democrats in the past few years. Geithner, Rangel, Daschle, Killefer, Solis, Kirk, and now Kerry.

This, from the party that talks a lot about the need for people to "pay their fair share".

-- Posted by Shapley Hunter on Tue, Aug 3, 2010, at 3:44 PM
  • But, Hunter, surely you realize THEY are the ones who decides what everyone ELSES' "fair share" is! They are exempt.

-- Posted by voyager on Tue, Aug 3, 2010, at 3:50 PM
  • "Do as I say, not as I do."

Perhaps if all the Democrats would pay their back taxes, we could erase the deficit overnight?
