Patience on park

To the concerned citizen bashing the hard work of our county park crew have you ever considered perhaps there is something else to blame? Perhaps the weather? I'm sure if you made a call to the county parks department directly they will be able to answer your questions and explain to you the plan for the lake, which required draining it and making it deeper, adding grass peninsular to allow for fishing, lining the entire lake with shock rock each placed by hand, and preparing to add a new trail around the pond. I for one am very pleased with the progress at South County Park. The county park staff also maintain other properties in the county. I for one am grateful for the dedication of each person who's job it is to maintain and improve our county parks.

Great job

Thank you Cape city workers for the awesome job of picking up my two huge trees that came down during the storm. You did a great job of cleaning up my yard. Thank you.

Name game

I wonder how long it will be until the ball team starts downplaying that silly name, "Catfish," and just starts calling them "Cats" or something.

UTV safety

I do not know about Cape Girardeau but Scott City, Benton and Chaffee have a lot of UTVs now driving the city streets. Unlicensed and maybe uninsured I wonder how they allow it. Twice in as many days I have passed a UTV with a preteen at the wheel, once accompanied by an adult once by himself. If our teenagers must be licensed to drive a car, how is it they do not need a license for the UTV? What of license and registration as well as insurance? Maybe I should drop the insurance on my auto and save my license fee.

Free college

America is great! Where else can parents use their children's extra college loan money to pay off debt or just spend? And then have the government talk about just wiping all the children's college loan debt free and clean. What a way to teach children or college students! Money grows on trees ! (Taxpayers pay for it.)

  • Regarding the "Missouri Not Keeping Pace" letter to the editor, some people still believe that more taxes are good...I am not one of them. When I start seeing our government, from the top down, start being better stewards of spending "MY" hard earned money, I may change my mind. The idea of a President decreasing our taxes is such a breath of fresh air. The government doesn't work to make one penny for tax purposes, the people who have 1, 2 or 3 jobs are the ones and I don't apologize for one minute for wanting to keep more of the money that "I" earn.

  • "President decreasing our taxes is such a breath of fresh air"

...Could be true if this President had not increased spending while decreasing revenue . A deeper debt to the USA People .

  • It gets to the point where the American worker needs tax relief. We are taxed on just about everything we do. You earn money...your are taxed. You spend money that you have been taxed on for a car...you are taxed on the personal property...same for a home. The list goes on and on and on. Heaven help us if a democrat gets into the presidency because they are running on increasing our taxes like we have never witnessed before.

When everybody pays the same percentage of their hard earned money for taxes, you will see tax and spend politicians not being elected.

The hell yeah, raise taxes voters will change their tune. Spending someone else's money is too easy right now. It's all about hit the 1% at this point. What they fail to realize is the 1% money will go offshore again. Then where will the jobs be.

  • Then the majority of tax payers , the "middle" or average everyday workers should have got the highest Tax Cut instead of those with the most getting even more .

    ……..……………

Hao ! Crazy Horse and Sitting Bull lured Custer and his 7th USA Calvary into a trap then annilated them all , the worse defeat of the 7th USA Calvary in history . Custer and every last one of his Soldiers went back to the Other Side , what a great day it was !!

"Then the majority of tax payers , the "middle" or average everyday workers should have got the highest Tax Cut instead of those with the most getting even more".

Rick did the "Middle" get a lower percentage cut?

For example, 17% of $100 is $17 and 17% of $10 is $1.70. What is unfair about that?

For a tax cut to be fair everyone who pays taxes got the same rate no matter rich or poor.

  • And then you have people that get an "un-earned" income tax refund at the end of the year. I realize that they are at the bottom of the wages..if they are working but getting a "un-earned" refund seems un-earned to me.

Now you have made the hair stand up on the back of my neck. EITC!! It is only one thing and nothing more. It is "Welfare"! Nothing more, nothing less! Just a politically correct way to say it and make the recipient feel good about taking something they did not earn.

Just what we need in this country more people feeling good about taking the hard earned money of others while doing nothing but breathing to earn it.

Corporate did deserve a Tax Cut , I disagree with the amount . When Taxes are raised , or lowered , it should be the same for all Americans across the board . Another thing , the Tax Cuts are permanent and the Middle aren't . Why is this ? Again , it should be the same for all Americans , not just a few .

Rick: Don't worry about the corporate tax cuts and the individual tax cuts. If the Liberal Socialist Democrats controls the House in 2020 and elect one of the 20 losers as president those taxes cuts will be made void and they will then raise all of our taxes to the point of revolution in order to pay for the trillions needed for all their free give away programs. Can't wait to hear you say Trump knew what he was talking about. Talk more about this after Jan. 2021.

"Corporate did deserve a Tax Cut , I disagree with the amount."

Rick, Corporations really don't pay taxes, they just collect them for the government and pass them on in the form of goods and services. When you boil it all down only consumers pay taxes.

Who all wants tickets we could wear MAGA hats like Rock suggested. Maybe the Cards could use Rainbow bats, wouldn't be any worse then the ones that they are using now.
