Trump speech

Some people will NEVER learn. I read where Ms. Pelosi criticized President Trump's speech on the Taliban saying he didn't give enough details. Well Nancy, you are completely right! He did not give the number of troops, the day and time that they were being withdrawn or anything else that would aid the enemy, unlike Obama who supplied all of his sensitive information to the enemy. Good grief, Nancy. Are you really that ignorant? This type of unproductive criticism is exactly what the American people are sick of. Time to clean house!

  • There is a new drug for Leukemia in children , "Kymriah" , that's showing positive results , an 89% successful rate , and has been approved by the FDA . The rice is $425,000 per treatment .

That's just plain wrong . How could anyone charge money , especially half a million dollars , to a sick child ?

And People ask why the cost of health care is so high in America . The PPACA doesn't have squat to do with it , not a damned thing ....

  • "...who supplied all of his sensitive information to the enemy."

First of all, it's not "sensitive" information, it's planning criteria that establishes boundaries on future events. The setting of target dates for force reductions have always included stipulations or exceptions to recognize conditions on the ground at the time.

The actual purpose of creating tentative withdrawal dates is to put the Afghan government and military on notice that the US commitment is not open ended and they will eventually have to pull their own weight.

It's necessary to keep in mind that the conflict has three distinct players, the US military, the Taliban and the Afghan military/government. The primary purpose of our involvement is to build up Afghan capabilities for self-defense and self-governance, so our presence is not required.

Setting provisional or conditional dates for termination of military aid is to motivate our Afghan allies to be serious about self-sufficiency, and that the US military assistance is not an limitless "gravy train" they can feed off of indefinitely.

Mr Leftaut, that post is a classic in what would have once been termed treasonous conduct.

What if Truman had published information on the party planned for Hiroshima. I question that there has been even one Democrat politician since Harry Truman who could test favorably against the values he stood for.

Which could all be communicated confidentially. But to please the left-wing democrats Obama makes everything public.

Which encourages the Taliban. And costs American lives. I thought you served in the military didn't you? Odd that you would support such public announcements on US military plans.

With all due respect, Mr. VanGennip, you have no idea what you're talking about, and with that said, Mr. Williams knows even less.

Fighting an insurgency through the Afghan government has no relationship with World War II. In the Pacific theater, after having air superiority, we did warn Japanese citizens that their cities would be attacked.

  • Perhaps you can find from a President Obama release, the exact time and place that US forces would arrive, what they would be doing, how they would be deployed, in which locations they would serve, and which Afghan units they would be supporting.

Obama's announcements of what we are doing next is what I see as having been the problem in his term. It contributed to poor performance and getting people hurt or killed.

Fortunately we no longer have to deal with his incompetence.

  • As I said, you have no idea of what you're talking about. What you "see" or imagine has no relation to the real world.

You understanding of and definition of "incompetence" is also more than just a tad suspect.

Mr. Leftaut, are you the go to Know it all in Sneller's absence?

-- Posted by Ralph VanGennip on Fri, Sep 1, 2017, at 2:33 PM
  • From Sept. 2014:

"The president has been getting a lot of grief over his "We don't have a strategy" statement concerning Islamic State. While it may have been taken out of context, he could have chosen his words more carefully.

The correct answer should have been, "Yes, we do, and it's classified." Do we not think our enemies are tuned in and listening? Wouldn't they love to know our strategy? Ever since this administration has taken over, President Obama has been too forthcoming to appease Americans and reporters by laying out timetables for withdrawal and strategies in both Iraq and Afghanistan — effectively giving the enemies a timetable and a strategy to come out of hiding and reorganize.

The Taliban in Afghanistan has re-emerged, and now we have Islamic State in Iraq. I think our commander-in-chief would be wise not to appease demands for strategies and timetables. He should act as the Constitution allows, and from now on the answer on questions regarding national security should always be, "It's classified." Let the results speak for themselves."

  • It appears that Mr. VanGennip has a strange definition of a "know it all."

Looks very much like his definition includes any one that knows more than he does.

    That's a pretty low bar.
